How does shit like this and the Sam Loomis leaks work? If they're only up for a couple days, but thousands of uberfans download them, does that cause them to be fairly findable on download sites, etc?

Yeah once they're out, they're out. They'll pop up on Guitars101 and other collector sites forever now. These videos could end up not being pulled down as was the case when the Van Halen audio leaks came out a year or so ago. Or somebody could claim them and they could be gone in an hour. But once they're out there, it'll be like whack-a-mole and they'll never go away.

That's what I use. I was able to download that guys entire page of videos in under minute.

Where are the Motley or Ratt videos, back stage, etc... from 1983/1984/1985....?

Crazy how little there is... and both of those bands exploded at that time, you would think there would be a few quality pro shot videos, but there are very few.

You don't need an extension, just a standalone youtubw ripper. 4k Video Downloader is a free install., or you can pay a small amount for life. As others said above, I got em all in about 1 minute..

Probably being hoarded by the same assholes who had these videos at one time. I know that Curt Gooch guy has the first Motley shows in pro shot quality. He posted a sample years ago of Motley performing "Paperback Writer" but it's long deleted. I did some research and found this on the Steve Hoffman forum:

EliteWorks@ebay own all the surviving old Motley footage from 1981. Curt Gooch is the guy's name, he is currently trying to sell a KISS video that was never shown.

Motley's first manager's holdings were sold off by his estate in about 2010 . . . they had the original video tapes for those first shows at the Starwood, the original tapes for those two cheap videos they made (that they watch & make fun of in Uncensored), the MTV news clip from November at the Roxy & a bunch of other rare media : posters, photos, you name it.
They contacted Motley and asked a mere $10,000 for it . . . & Nikki said NO! That's ours! Give it to us! So they didn't, they sold them off to people who actually wanted it & now we're sitting around waiting to see what happens to this stuff

Gooch is also the guy who has all the Kiss stuff that got leaked out a few years ago, as well as the Van Halen Donington show that also came out. Supposedly he sells his collection to people on hard drives and that's how stuff occasionally leaks out, and then he has it pulled down. Gene & Paul went after him at one point but I'm not sure how that turned out.

I get not wanting to pay for footage that you should have the right to, but Motley could have easily turned that $10,000 into much more. Imagine a Blu-Ray of the first Motley Crue show at The Starwood? That's just history and it sucks it's being hoarded away.

They might think they own it because it's of them, but they dont. A photographer owns his photos, not the subject (unless it's in a contract specifying)

And yeah, multimillionairres splitting hairs over 10grand when it would be in investment that would have reaped tons more is.... probably pretty par for the course.

Yup. It was 2004.. I was on that email.. i think his reply was "FUCK NO, WHY SHOULD WE PAY FOR SOMETHING THATS OURS?"

I’m watching one of the clips we’re Eddie is chatting with a guy in a pre show tuning shed. From the 4 minute mark to the 9 minutes mark, it’s pure Eddie Van Halen. His abilities are breath taking when you see it in its original context.
