RIP David Jo who just passed today. Big dolls fan, some solo, and some Buster P. I thought he was good at his craft, started/launched a new thing in music, kept it interesting most of the way through. Lost another good one!

Sometimes you never realize when it's "over" for certain things in life. Saw him on that Motley 30th\Poison 25th Anniversary tour with the Dolls, and they put a good show despite the fact that the sun was still out and it was about 100+ degrees that day (not joking, brutal summer show in the South). Had no idea that was the last big thing he'd do.

I've seen them about 5 or so times, always in NYC's Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom, or Asbury Park's Stone Pony in NJ. If you're a fan of the newer dolls/solo stuff, the documentary/concert film was a good watch. Usually I shrug off rockstar deaths a bit, but this one makes me sadder than the others. Not sure why - seemed like a personable guy.

Can't say I was a huge fan but the Dolls were a band whose influence in the development of our genre of music was far bigger than their sales. I only saw them once at the Reading Festival in 2004. David listed all the band members who'd died and said "will the necrology ever end?". And now it has. RIP

This hits hard.

Without discovering bands like the Dolls and the Stooges, I could have ended up being a 50+ year old still debating which was the best Winger or White Lion album.

You forgot to mention Jerry Nolan, who played drums on both of their albums, who died in early 1992.

Good point. But for the record Winger's s/t debut and White Lion's Pride both rule.
