Sammy Haggar Offering Ritchie Sambora Booze

Sammy asks Ritchie if he's currently on the or off the wagon and Ritchie couldn't drink it fast enough. Really? No matter the answer that single sip right there could have led to a relapse.

Then Sammy (if it was him) went on to say it was all Ritchie had al night. Ya', right.

And this is Sammy's fault? Richie couldn't grab the cup fast enough. He could have just said no.

Maybe you guys are right.

Alcoholism is funny.

I don’t see it that way but what the hell they’re friends and that’s what friends do for one another.

If you can fuck with them about the daily struggle on stage why that’s just the icing on the cake.

Sammy's almost 80. He's probably known hundreds of musicians and people in the business that have died due to various addictions over the last 60 years.

He KNOWS better. He just doesn't care.

That Richie took drinks? No. That he offered one to a known alcoholic? Yes, absolutely. Completely a "dick move." Same as when he was hawking tequila at the 2004 VH reunion shows when it was obvious that Ed was deeply struggling. Only an abject fool (and hypocrite) would do that. Sammy's dad was an alcoholic, too.

Probably okay for a severe alcoholic to have just one drink, right?

Man, F Sammy Hagar. How that man manages to be a bigger prick than Roth astounds me.

No one even knows what was in the cup, and Ritchie could have said no at any time.

Sammy "Haggar"? I thought his money was all from tequila, not double-knit slacks...

I trash Sammy plenty, but it's not Sammy or anyone's job to keep track of who is not doing what. It was an honest question - with a quick answer.

My sister is sober. Used to run a halfway house. She's one of those people that can't drink a drop. If someone offers her a drink, she says "No, thanks."

Note the "thanks"..... because someone offering you a drink is a friendly gesture.

Understood it's a person's singular responsibility to keep themselves sober, HOWEVER, are we really saying that Sammy didn't know Ritchie had a well publicized substance abuse problem? Because I find that hard to believe.

And, WHY RECORD IT? This didn't have to exist on the internet.

I know some alcoholics and if I'm around them at dinner or something, I won't have a drink at all. It's just unnecessary for me. My meal or time spent with those people will be perfectly fine if I don't have a drink. The alcohol isn't that important for me.

I remember seeing Warrant and "fans" after the show wanting to buy Jani Lane drinks when everybody knew he had an issue and was on the wagon. I bitched at one guy once for wanting to do that because it's fucking shitty.

I genuinely like Sammy but he can definitely be a dick at times and then want to claim it's not his fault.

As an addict myself I would never expect other people to change a single thing like whether there is booze at a party or ceremony due to my presence. I would feel like I was ruining the event. It's not the responsibility of people who don't have a problem with substances to have to cater to the ones of us who do.

I haven't watched the video, but it sounds like Ritchie was more than willing to have the drink. If he had been clean and folded like that he was on the verge of falling off anyway.

People get hung up on "rules": What are the rules here, who's making the rules, why should I follow your rules? Relax. No one's oppressing you.

I think it's just inconsiderate. Everyone I know in recovery is pretty chill. Okay, so maybe be a little chill with them, maybe you could not wave a cocktail under the nose of an alcoholic.

Is it ultimately Richie Sambora's call, whether or not he drinks? Absolutely. No denying that.

If Sammy never responded, I would've thought it was a bit. It's comical the way he just grabs the cup and gulps it down.

He might still be kidding because "He only drank what was in my cup" is an absolutely deranged response.

I remember when Vince was “sober” also.

Yeah, you kinda have to take their word for it.

I don’t see a difference in Richie drinking whatever and Jon drinking wine 24/7.
