Would he be arrested and tried by the Bahamian authorities or those of the ship's destination or departure country? In the case of Americans on a cruise ship (like this one), it could be either or both. Unless there's an agreement or treaty in place that states otherwise, the U.S. Federal Govt. can prosecute any crime committed by or against an American citizen. The local maritime jurisdiction (e.g. Bahamian authorities in this case) would also have the power to prosecute as well.

If a situation arose where both wanted to, there would be the usual negotiation as to whether someone will be prosecuted locally or extradited back to the U.S., etc.

As far as "half way in between", there would still be a line somewhere.

Side note: If it were to happen within 3 miles of the U.S. coast, local state jurisdiction would apply.

Pretty sure these cruises are considered "closed loop" so I would guess it would be under US jurisdiction.

I can picture Tender, Chad, and Sam sitting on the curb at 6:45 am waiting for Taime to get off the boat. Taime probably will never get on another cruise ship if so leave the ol lady at home. #1 Rule is Don’t move them in as it’s anchor of potential misery when the puppy love stage ends.
