Why?

Not quite. Tracii took a break from LAG to do BOD. Phil carried on with a new guitarist.

When the reunion happened, Phil left the Steve R group, in which they were getting paid $3500/show. Whereas, Tracii was offered $25k for a reunion gig. Obviously, that got Phil's attention and they've worked together ever since.

TG's had some interesting stories -- this being one of them -- in the 3-4 podcasts he's done lately to promote the new album.

Of all the dumb things the musicians of this genre have done, and that's a lot, this has to rank up there. You're on a fucking cruise, there's gonna be sun, and you know before you get on the boat when your band is playing. And just for the sake of argument, let's pretend he didn't know what time they were gonna play. Who gives a fuck? Wear some sunglasses. You know the amount of legendary bands who have played while the sun is out at some point in their career? Everyone. He's getting paid to perform on a cruise. It's a dream gig. Play your 30 minute set and go cool off in the pool. Dude is just as much of a bitch as Sebastian, Wolfgang, Vince Neil, and every other goof who is made fun of on this board.

Nope. the analogy is valid. Tracii has earned the right to not play when he wants?? If a guy who sold 1 million records in the 80s has the right to not play for fans that bought tickets, then a guy who has sold 100 million records should indeed be able to bash in the brains of his fans. Kidding aside, I think Tracii is a really good dude and this is very likely not 'diva' at all, and is part of a psychological issue which is 100% excusable.

Is that their only show of the cruise? That is, did LA Guns get booked to play on a boat, flew across the country, boarded, and then had Traci just blow off their reason for being there?

Or will they just swap with another band for a shittier indoor slot and this isnt that big a deal.

When we played the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise back in 2013, there was a "club" stage on the top level, a "theater" stage where they do the usual entertainment/shows and a full-sized main stage on the main deck. Each band played twice during the 5-day cruise. There were 3 bands playing just about constantly from about 11am to about 3am, I think.

We played the club at a decent evening time and the main stage in the afternoon. Yes, daytime metal sucks. Everyone knows this. For a band that had broken up 20 years prior and hadn't released anything new since then I thought it was fine. it could have been way worse like playing early in the morning or whatever.

I'm guessing it's the same basic setup for most of these things. Again, NO ONE wants to play in daylight instead of having the light show and everything, but there are WAY more daylight hours than not on those cruises so unless you want to go on at 2am in the little club, you can't bitch if you aren't the big boys.

I got to see some really cool shows, meet and some cool people and even see and say hi to some of my own heroes. I wouldn't want to do it again, but I'm glad I had the experience.

Maybe. It could be a douchebag move, and it very well also could be a legit mental health issue that affects his ability to perform in certain situations. We just don't know.
