As absolutely EPIC as the original was and still is (and only get better the deeper you go into the music game) I just can’t see them ever touching on that sort of comedy magic again. They are just too self aware now. They already tried years ago and it wasn’t completely horrible, but now?
I want to love this idea but will be shocked if I like it. Some things are just done at the exact right time and can never be followed up properly. Hope they prove me wrong though. Even TAP can’t top TAP.
As for the funniest music movies, why doesn’t “Walk Hard” get more love? That one makes me laugh my ass of like every 10 seconds throughout the entire film.p even after having seen it countless times. Yeah, it’s a parody, which is a bit “easier” but it’s SO fucking great.
p.s. I am embarrassed to admit that somehow I never realized until a few years ago that the umlaut in the Spinal Tap loge was over the “n”. So funny.

Sounds like they will make fun of Rock bands going full symphony. What else can they do this time?
Digital media/download wars
Volume wars
lip syncing gone wrong
Backing tracks gone wrong
Overpriced vinyl versions of bad sounding albums for the “audiophiles” to enjoy
Cell phones at concerts
YouTube instant concert replays
Live streaming shows
Playing full albums on tour
YouTube comment trolls
Recording at home without a studio
Drum machines/software so no more dead drummers to worry about
Replacing an original member with the best YouTube “version” of that member

What does the umlaut over the n mean?
nothing which is why it's funny. It's always over a vowel (see: Mötley Crüe), which is why having the dots over the "n" is so hilarious. It's so subtle if you aren't German. It's like "let's make our logo look "metal" by putting an umlaut over the name", but being so stupid you put it over the "n". I don't know how I never really thought about it for literally decades.
I remember there was a short documentary when the "Break Like the Wind" album came out. Did they do any others?
It's funny when you look at 2025 compared to 1985 to see how much as changed! My God... cruise ships, nostalgia tours, streaming, no more record stores, etc. Bands touring with one original member. I mean, that's a documentary onto itself! I'm looking forward to it!
"You want Don Juan DeMarco, the world's greatest lover, to talk to you? What do you know of great love?"
Also, if you haven’t seen it, there is a deluxe DVD of TIST with them doing audio commentary in character. “Setting the record straight.” It’s like a whole ‘nuther movie.
