new GNR drummer?

Gotta be someone like Freese or Brain who's already in the orbit, right? Doubt it'll be someone who plays with Slash or Duff (sorry, Brent), much less someone Axl doesn't already have history with. Would be cool if Adler or Sorum got the call, but I don't see that happening.

anyone care this guy is leaving?
Snorum may be more exciting the bar is so low.
Hopefully Duff/Slash choose the drummer!
Adler or someone new please!!

Huh, that's a bit of a shocker. He's been with them for almost 20 years, but he may just not want to do those three hour shows anymore.
I'd love to see Brain back with them, but if he didn't join Primus when given the chance, I don't see him going back to G'N'R.
I think you've got to go with a young guy, so maybe it will be a relative unknown, or they could do the Iron Maiden thing and just pull whoever plays for Slash.

They're going to hire whoever's cheap and reliable.
They wouldn't pay Izzy - if Sorum wants the gig, he better not be expecting life-changing money.
Saying that, didn't Duff clash with Sorum in VR as far as partying/sobriety was concerned?

Could Adler pull it off if he was asked? He's in a GnR tribute, does he still have his old chops?
Could he handle the post-appetite stuff?
I know they wont ask him, just wondering if it would work.

Yes, he still has his chops.
No, he couldn't do the gig.
Last year he ended one of his concerts mid-show because he had a headache. He already had a 0% chance of rejoining, but that was a firm reminder of why. Dude is far too great a liability to take out on a tour this size.

I've got a hard time thinking he could pull it off, and surely not for a 2.5-3 hour set.
I think the only way you'd see Adler is if they had two drummers, have Adler do Appetite/Lies and have another drummer for anything else. But like Freddy said, I can't imagine they'd pay for two drummers.
Also don't see Sorum coming back. He's 64 and didn't sound like Axl ever liked him. But who knows?

Nothing against him, but no big deal. They’ll never do any new material, and how many times will any of you see them live again? Unless you’re a drummerphile who obsesses over Adler’s groove, they’ll find a competent enough drummer and won’t miss a beat.

I saw them play a show with Coury in liiiiike '88 when Adler busted his wrist. He was good.

Adler could never ever do it and they would never ask him back.
Sorum definitely could do it but they, well, Axl won’t want him back, I think.
I assume that the only classic era guys anyway will be Axl, Slash and Duff (does anybody count Dizzy?) and getting for example Sorum back could create kinda wrong type of ”reunion” hype.
Prolly Izzy would be the only one old member Axl would want back anyway.

I went for an Adler/Sorum combo feel-wise here if it counts as an audition and the band happens to be scouring this old school message board!

Agreed. I always thought it was a weird choice since his playing style is so stiff, particularly so when you compare it to Adler's.

The band never sounded the same without Adler.

Dave Abbruzzese is my feelgood pick that would never happen.

Personally I think the shows should be trimmed down a lot. Looks like they stopped doing back to back nights after Axl ran out of steam after "only" 155 mins at the Hollywood Bowl.

I remember seeing this video... and he came out and told the crowd why he could not continue...
In short, it was pretty pathetic in my opinion.
