Take care of your health and you too could be this cool and mobile at 75. The Working Class Dog drum head is great!

Rick is still killing it and writes catchy pop-rock tunes still. I've seen him a dozen times or so since the 80s (last around 2022). Guy still packs a 3-4K seat venue. 76 years old this summer. JFC.

the guy is a beast. Still in the fight and doesn't need the money. He is winning!

At 75, Springfield — who recently released Volume 2 of his Greatest Hits album and will set out on his I Want My '80s tour on May 28 — certainly doesn't feel his age.
"I still feel like I'm in my 20s in my head," he says. "Then I see people dying from old age disease and go, 'Wow, I'm the same age as old people!'"

I had read that in some article. A little miffed at this tour. I often catch him when he passes through Ohio (Dayton area usually) and can get tix in the first few rows at face value. This tour did the presale and VIP thing, so they were pricier than I was willing to spend.

Seen many bands perform at Epcot. Excellent place for shows overall, so I'm sure this was no exception.

I wonder why he never joins a big tour with Bryan Adams, Joan Jett, Def Leppard, Billy Idol, etc.
He has the songs, the hits and the fans.

IDK about this summer's 80s tour, but he's been a fly-out act for years now. He can do it the way he wants and be in Malibu much of the time. I really enjoyed when he and his band did the Working Class Dog album, start to finish, from his house a la Live at Dary's House style.
He did a PPV thing and album release before the clips began showing up on YouTube.

Well, he does shows with Richard Marx often. I think they are always acoustic shows, just the 2 of them. Sometimes they do separate sets. Sometimes they perform both sets together.
He did some shows with Eddie Money too. RIP Money Man!!!
He's a great headliner. The videos don't always do it justice but the sonic SOUND of his show is insane. It sounds huge. I'm sure he's using some samples or drum triggers but it works very well. I wasn't even that much of a fan but I saw him live once with Pat Benatar and I've seen him like 5 times since then! One of the best live acts out there.

Eddie was supposed to open for Rick around 2019 at one of the last outdoor shows of the summer we went to, but I think he passed right before, sometime in September. Replaced by Greg Khin (another RIP) and Patty Smythe and Scandal (fucking excellent). Khin had no band. Rick's band played with him, and it sounded great. He did a little more storytelling since he only had two MTV hits, but The Breakup Song is one of my favorites. He said that song put all his grandkids through college.
Rick has always had solid bands. Matt Bissonette has written a lot with Rick, played bass, and has been working with Elton John for years. Of course, the famous Tim Pierce. His last lead guitar before George Nastos went on to play with Chicago. Siggy Sjursen, his current bass player was in Powerman 5000 and Glenn Campbell....etc etc. Of course, everyone knows Brett Tuggle (RIP). Lots of good players.
And let us not forget that Spyder Giraldo played the solo on Jessie's Girl on Working Class Dog.
That's probably why Rick has been so successful.
If anyone is interested in checking out killer albums from Rick after he faded from radio, I'd suggest Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance and Songs for the End of the World. His more recent stuff is excellent too. The guy can write catchy, guitar-driven stuff.

Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance and Songs for the End of the World Are two of my favorites, especially Shock/Denial/Anger/Acceptance.
I dig his last album, 20 three minute pop songs that would’ve been hits in the 80’s maybe hits now if radio would play them and I think Rick played all or most of the instruments, arrangements, etc….. the dude is great … I can’t think of another 75 year old artist that could write that pop album all by himself … even young artists need 15 cowriters to write one pop song.

Exit Wound is my favorite off of Automatic. I didn't love Rocket Science as much as others, but I also really dug The Snake King. I'm a sucker for swampy, bluesy stuff. Voodoo House is a great tune.

Anyone who digs his more recent stuff should check out his Red Locusts project with the Bissonette brothers. Good catchy pop rock. It’s from 2021 and should be on all streaming services.

Agreed. On an Epcot-related note, how 'bout that minor fire that broke out in a walk-in cooler near the Remy Ratatouille ride within the past 24 hours or so? I saw an article and some video where ome people were filming a big plume of smoke rising up from the France pavilion shortly after it happened. Thankfully it was contained pretty quickly. Could've been much worse.

I hope to one day hear Rick’s unreleased songs because he has a very dark side I’d like to dig into.

Songs For The End Of The World genuinely surprised me with how good it was.... catchy, angry power pop that would have been successful if someone his grandkid's age performed it.

No charges were filed on the spousal abuse. Not enough evidence and his wife refused to press charges. That was around Y2K when I think his drinking and depression was not in check.

His autobiography Late, Late At Night is excellent!
I also bought his 2012 doc Affair Of The Heart several years ago … very good.

Read that but not his fiction book that followed. Magnificent Vibration.
I dusted off The Beat of a Live Drum from 1985 a few months ago. David Fincher pseudo-concert film. Fun 80s stuff. Tim Pierce in his 20s on lead guitar. Brett Tuggle on keyboards. It’s on Prime Video and maybe Tubi if interested.

He was a musician first; started back in Australia. If he's to be believed, he got the soap gig to pay the bills since success in Australia didn't automatically translate to the same in America.
Either way, he won the lotto.

He had his first top 10 in 1972 … he had two (almost 3) top 10 albums while on General Hospital … he was huge, not a failure.
