Tough call. I like all of 'em, but I went with "Heaven" just barely over "House of Pain". And even though Winger's debut was released in 1988, "Headed For a Heartbreak" wasn't released as a single until '89, so I'd also include that one if there had been enough room for it.

I love that song but I believe it was released in 1988.

Tesla should get zero votes

I went with Tesla, but "I Remember You" is a very close second. It felt a little derivative at the time (same chords as "Every Rose..." and all that), but it aged incredibly well. The solo is great. Bach is great. "You'll always be my dream come true" feels sincere. Earnest. Definitely a moment of its time. Shit. Can I change my vote?

I voted for Heaven, But Babylon AD's version of Desperate is a super close second. Great song.

This, followed by Tesla and LA Guns.

I like Vain but their ballads are garbage.

A lot of good tunes in 1989. The Guns/Cripps guitar tone on 'Ballad of Jayne' separates that song from contemporaries.

Sadly, this is just about the last time I knew every song on the top 10 list!!!

This is how I would rank them!

Warrant - Heaven
Skid Row - I remember you
Tesla - Love Song
LA Guns - Ballad of Jayne
Faster Pussycat - House of Pain
Motley Crue - Without you
Great White - The Angel Song
Babylon AD - Desperate (this is an awesome song which only goes to show you how strong this list is since it's way down here)
Vain - Without You
Technically, I don't know that Tora Tora song but I wasn't a fan of what I've heard from the band so I'm putting that on the bottom.

Wow. I can't believe Vain isn't winning this in a landslide, since a lot of people here are delusional and think the debut is some fucking masterpiece.

Cool.

The poll only allows 10 options. Well aware there was more than 10 ballads released in 89.

Do your own poll for the other ballads from 89 if you would like.

Strange. I saw a post on Facebook from "Hair Metal Music", which had a photo called Best 1989 Ballad and exactly the same songs as here (plus The Band You Cannot Name). Did the OP get the idea from there, or that guy from here?

Imagine being mad over a poll.

Tesla = boring music for boring people. Skid Row is better on every level.

Sorry, only talking facts here.
The critics thinks so (me); regular listeners think so (spotify stats: 220 million vs 60 million) and the village idiots think so (this poll).

Guess I prefer to look at as Tesla had 4 good albums in a row and Skid Row only had two.
