Few Questions regarding Tuff/Vain Backstage

Why does the guy spit randomly and where does spit go? It seemed like he spits on the wall or mirror @2:38 for no real reason. Does he do that in his own house?

Why is there a little kid @ 4:53. Is it an all ages show?

The roadie in the tuff shirt seemed completely miserable, was he?

Was backstage always like that? That is exactly how I imagined it would be,

That is Todd Chase, and my guess is, he spit on the wall. Does he do this at his own house? Likely no.

For what it's worth, I give him a pass for being 22/23, young and stupid, careless, etc... we all did dumb sh!t in our youth, myself included.

Of course looking back at this it looks bad, but again... noting our age, the time, etc..

Also to note... most dressing rooms were the recipient of much worse at clubs all over the globe

Most of the clubs in L.A. were ALL AGES... which I was shocked at once I moved here. It was common to have 12-14-16 year olds in the Whisky, Roxy, Gazzarri's, etc..

Right at that time stamp, that is Playboy Playmate Susie Owens walking back-stage with Photographer Mark "Weiss Guy" Weiss!

Fun Fact: Susie gave me her # that night... which ended up being a good thing.

You are talking about the chubby guy wearing the NIKE hat? Nah... that is Kenny 'Ken Dog' Carruth. A sweetheart of a guy for sure, all day, every day.

He worked for us back in the day, and has been with Soulfly for like 30+ years now. He's done a ton of tech work, and again... the sweetest guy ever. Love Ken Dog!

In the TUFF/Vain backstage at the Roxy video at 8:22

Hmmm... I can't say for sure... Michael & I always handled all of the business, collecting from the promoter/club, settling on merchandise, and paying the crew.

I go to Chase and hand him money, then I ask "Where is Michael", who is in that back closet section which actually connects to the other dressing room as well.

It looks like I give Michael money as well as some guy standing with him, but I can't really see who the guy is... doesn't look like a roadie that worked for us... but it could have been a club sound guy, lighting guy, etc...

Also, some promoters/shows give the band a 'Buy-out' in place of dinner... which often would be $100.00 or $15/20 per guy back in the day... which I would collect, and then distribute to all at some point that night.... but... I also must say, 'Buy-out" money was not a common thing at local Hollywood clubs.

Honestly.... I have no clue what transaction was taking place, but I can also assure, it was not a "drug" buy, lol... that was not my thing.

UPDATE: Okay, I scrolled back and see that was actually Mark Weiss the photographer who I gave that money too... hmmm... he came with Susie Owens, but I can't for the life of me think about why I would have given Mark money... hmmm... I am perplexed...?

Awesome very interesting! I would never even consider purchasing drugs in that video. That is pretty cool that you would distribute the cash amongst the band. Those dressing rooms looked like fun! I was laughing at that deli tray.

Were you given free food from the club?

Did you guys have a rider? Do you have an example of a Tuff rider?
