Not a sludge band, but good tunes and he was an excellent, hard hitting drummer

This one hits hard. I loved Blondie growing up, and I always wished I could play drums with the kind of style and flair he had. Relatively young too, only 70. Fuck cancer..

His playing on "Heart of Glass" by itself puts him in legend territory. Sorry to hear this news.

He was a very good guy, in my extended social circle the last 7 years.

People talk about famous people who are "down to earth", but Clem really was. He was always playing in club bands or doing sessions with small local acts, I even ran into him and his wife watching my Tom Petty cover band once. I went over to him on break and asked what he was doing there, and he just said: "Oh, my wife and I like Tom Petty", then his wife gave me some of her cajun food lol.

It was like that, you'd run into him everywhere just chilling or playing.

He played in a band I am currently playing with and would occasionally still sit in until he got sick. I was always hoping he'd get better so I could play with him, but that never happened.

On Dreaming there is some of the greatest drumming ever, very few drummers can play it correctly. We covered it with one band and I knew I could never play it as it went, so I played a simplified version. R.I.P. Clem.

I was just driving down the highway jamming to Dreaming, and thought "man, Clem kills on this song" (and many others).
Solid drummer.

He was 2nd only to Harry for onstage juju. Total rock star hair and vibe. That's cool to hear he didn't carry himself like one and treated people well.


His drumming was perfect. You can easily put him in the discussion of best 10 rock drummers and not be laughed at. All the tracks mentioned are stellar.

Yet, the Ramones fired him after 48 hours.

Clem in the Ramones makes as much sense as Neil Peart playing for Poison

I read the story. He had no time to rehearse and Johnny fired him as much because he didn't like him as that he did a bad job.
