Ian Hill makes Bobby Dall sound like Jaco Pastorius.

Ian Hill isn't.

I'd question if it really was on Turbo. It's very easy to be one or two years off when talking about things that happened 35-40 years ago and I remember that Ian and Dave weren't in the studio when Metal Hammer did a report on the recording of Ram It Down. It is confirmed that most of the drums were programmed, so why not replace the bassist who wasn't in the studio anyway? Alternatively Painkiller, Don Airey admitted to playing most of the bass on a synth so having a session player on a few songs wouldn't be too surprising.

On Reddit someone claims this happened after East played with Clapton. That was 1992, so it may even have been Jugulator. But that's less likely IMO.

Nathan East was Clapton's touring bass player from '86 on, so it's possible.

Nathan East is the last guy I would have imagined playing on a Priest album, but he's a professional with plenty of experience being told how or what to play. Presumably, he: would have been able to do the sessions in very little time, got paid well, didn't care about (or want) being credited, and kept quiet about it for almost 40 years.

A shame they didn't let him run wild with the bass playing, maybe Ian would have upped his game a bit...

Along with Slayer, Priest is definitely in my top 5 of stupid root note bass lines.

Long Time by Boston on your list? There's a little 'walking the dog' at the end of the verses but for the most part, grandma can learn the song on the fly.

Kind of odd picking a non-metal session guy who played for Richard Marx and Kenny Loggins, but since Turbo was kind of a left turn for Priest into keyboard hair farming it actually seems about right for them at the time.
