Poison is far worse than both.
Jovi is objectively better, but for chicks. It would be unseemly and unmanly for a dude to admit he likes them. It would be like a man admitting he likes to wear a pink little pinafore.

Agreed, but after Animalize they were neither massive nor platinum. They were in a flat spin til they put the makeup back on.

Motley Crue became horrible but the video you choose to show isn't proof of that. Up until Dr. Feelgood they were on top of the world, they looked and sounded good, and while they had a lot of filler, their hits more than made up for it. If the band died in a plane crash in 1991, they would have been one of the most legendary bands of all time. There are plenty of bands worse than Motley Crue that had a brief taste or two of platinum in the 80s and 90s, but massive platinum bands? Not many that I can think of. Actually, Motley Crue hasn't been a massive platinum band since Dr. Feelgood.

Someone had to call out AC/DC. They have some stone cold classics up until BIB in 1980, not going to argue, but also the worst good to filler ratio of any band at that level. Even if we include Kiss at the same level. Are there more than 2 good songs on any album after BIB? Maybe Black Ice, or is just the filler better on that one.
