Ghost Debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200

I'm curious, does rock radio (regular FM) or SiriusXM play the singles on regular rotation? I don't listen to either. Glad to see a rock album (not debating the pop and 80s glam fusion) at #1.

I hear Ghost on SiriusXM on both Liquid Metal and Octane. On Liquid Metal, "Satanized" was on the Devil's Dozen weekly favs countdown when it was released.Hatchets Molly wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 4:43 am I'm curious, does rock radio (regular FM) or SiriusXM play the singles on regular rotation? Kiss never had a #1 album.

Radio is unimportant these days. I know. Was curious. I haven't listened to either for years, so have no idea what happens outside of Spotify/Apple Music.Van Ailin' wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 5:12 amRadio is unimportant these days. Re: Ghost Debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200
Ever since "Square Hammer," Ghost has had lots of success at U.S. active rock radio, which is one of the reasons they graduated from cult curiosity to arena headliner.
Current chart = "Satanized" is #7 and rising (http://www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/fmqb/ch ... p?format=6)
Previous results: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghost_discography
#1 with "Square Hammer"
#1 with "Rats"
#1 with "Dance Macabre"
#6 with "Faith"
#1 with "Hunter's Moon"
#1 with "Call Me Little Sunshine"
#5 with "Spillways"
#13 with the Genesis cover
Interestingly, their label didn't work "Mary on a Cross" as a radio single.

Best band on planet earth and it’s not even close.
Tobias is proof we can still have rock stars in the social media age.
Honestly if Tobias, Bret, Vince, Axl all walked into the McDonalds I was at I’d be most geeked for Tobias even though the other 3 were basically my childhood. Dude can do literally anything musically. If it wasn’t for somebody posting a Ghost link in 2023 I might still be sleeping on Ghost. So I owe my Ghost fandom to Sludge.

"Cirice" really pushed them up a level, but yes, "Square Hammer" seemed to push them up a couple of levels and the audience grew drastically.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 5:18 am Ever since "Square Hammer," Ghost has had lots of success at U.S. active rock radio, which is one of the reasons they graduated from cult curiosity to arena headliner.

Only song on that list that I didnt get why people liked was Rats.
Ghost isnt my persona fave, but in the era of "Rock is dead, hard rock is passe," etc, it sgreat to see a rock band on the top spot. Especially one with theatrics and bombast instead of some Wolfgang bland bullshit.

That's the spirit, Huey. It's not their best album, but it's about fucking time that a rock band tops the charts again. Sleep Token might do the same in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the rising tide will lift all boats, etc. etc.

Good, but I’d be even more impressed if “Satanized” or “Peacefield” would get enough listens to give Kendrick Lamar the boot from the top of the Hot 100. Dude’s been there for eleven fuckin’ weeks now—something Mr. Freeze and I should probably be ranting about over on the “Streaming killed the Billboard charts” thread.

I really believe Ghost is some kind of joke that I am on the outside of.
They suck pretty bad and are bland and boring but so many people seem to like them.
I feel like a guy watching Spinal Tap that thinks they are a real band and doesn't get it. There is no way this many people like this crappy band, unless it's a joke.
I would rather listen to this than Ghost

Re: Ghost Debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200
It's amazing to see Tobias and Ghost reach such heights.
I was lucky enough to see my first Ghost show in the front row of an old church here in Pittsburgh on their second US Tour. And then a bunch more shows in small venues over the next couple years.
Two highlights:
- Seeing them from the front row at the Sound Garden Record Store in Baltimore on their unplugged tour
- Going back stage after night #1 of the Meliora Tour in Silver Spring, MD. I literally got to chat with Tobias for 10 minutes one-on-one.
Amazing experiences that will never be topped or duplicated.

Call me old, call me a hater, call me whatever you wish...
I could give 2 F#@ks about this band and still don't get it.
But of course, I respect the fact that this guy had been plugging away for years and eventually made it work!

"Square Hammer" was so undeniable, and accessible, that it played as a bumper on a Monday Night Football broadcast. That is incredibly mainstream. Love Ghost, so happy for the success.NeonKnite wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 8:01 am"Cirice" really pushed them up a level, but yes, "Square Hammer" seemed to push them up a couple of levels and the audience grew drastically.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Mon May 05, 2025 5:18 am Ever since "Square Hammer," Ghost has had lots of success at U.S. active rock radio, which is one of the reasons they graduated from cult curiosity to arena headliner.

Was in a comic shop the other day, and noticed they now have a comic book, too, but not about the band. Setting up some sort of greater Ghost Universe.
I assume it was timed to help promote the album.
