The NHL just announced that the league has a new team called the Utah Mammoth.

It's not like we have
Chicago Bear, Charlotte Hornet, Carolina Panther, etc

According to the team, Utah chose a singular "Mammoth" rather than "Mammoths" because "it symbolizes one team, all-in and all of Utah."
Maybe it also helps that they can use the word as an adjective, as well. Ha, ha.
