I was about 13-16 years old when these albums came out and in my "if it's not heavy it's shite" phase and remember a friend of mine had those two records and I hated them, but I recently put Pure Instinct on and it has very good songs (I remember it being all ballads at the time, but it's not the case at all, guess I softened out) I like it. Who plays the drums on them?
Eye to eye is a little cringe-y, in a Backstreet Boys kind of way.
What do you think about those records? How were they recieved in the US? Was there any backlash about semi old German dudes singing on top of a Christina Aguilera drum loop?
What about Scorpions Pure Instict and Eye to eye? Yay or Nay?

I do like them both, as I remember enjoying the songs, but they are not traditional Scorpions tunes. Kind of like a 90s version of the Scorps, which they thankfully dropped. I remember at this point they had a different bassist, and always though he brought that influence with him to the band.
The power of Sludge compels you.

Eye II Eye has a couple of great songs ("Priscilla," "Aleyah") that are completely buried at the end of the CD; most people hit the Eject button before they came up

Pure Instinct is pretty shitty. People complained that Face The Heat was too heavy (which was stupid, because that album is awesome), so they over-corrected with Pure instinct and made an album that Mr. Big would have thought was too soft. Wild Child got a few spins and that was it.
Eye to Eye was a band that completely had no idea what they fuck they were doing anymore. There's a few decent songs on it, so it's not total garbage, but it's pretty close.
Unbreakable was a decent comeback album, but they didn't really get running on all cylinders again until Humanity, which of course featured a bunch of outside writers.

I remember when Eye II Eye came out, a local dj played To Be No 1 with a bunch of hype about it being a new Scorps song. I nearly ran off the road from how bad it was. Killed my Scorps fandom for years.
