Steve Perry is still trying to sing like he did in 1978, except painfully slow.

I wish he would just drop down a bit lower and then maybe he could make something tolerable.

It's like wild animals who were captured and made to perform until they croaked.

I would never have thought Willie would sound better than Steve Perry, but here we are.

Singing behind the beat bothers even more than the vocals.

I sure thought that was Willie playing the solo but it’s NOT!

Would LOVE to hear Johnny Cash sing this song .. somebody AI that please.

Yep.

Willie still sounds like Willie, though. I'm sure there are all kinds of digital magic at work there. Steve could have used a little more abracadabra.

I like the fact that they didn't try to hide the shakiness of the older voices. You can hear the stories in their voices. There is a lot of truth in it. The song arrangement is ok. Might have been better if it was just willie. I thought Willie did the guitar solo since it sounds like him. I was going to give him credit for those weird passing notes that almost are out of key but it looks like someone else played it and was playing in his style. ;-( if so, they should have stayed in willie's lane and not try that weird stuff. I realize it adds tension and resolves but on first listening, it was ouch.

Why does Steve Perry sound so bad nowadays? I understand he's 70 something now, but his voice has changed beyond what I would expect. Did he injure it or something at some point?

Django “Jazz” notes, aging vocals, behind the beat singing - all would be fine but it sounds like a total cut n paste job.
Not 2 guys singing together

It sounds about what you'd expect. Not a bad thing, and cool that older artists are doing stuff like this if you ask me. Willie is 92 for fuck's sake and he's put out like 6 new albums in the last 3 years and you know what? They're actually all quite good. Props to him to keep going.

“Painfully “ is right…

Wow Perry is cooked.. I always presumed he had lost his high range and that is why he is not in Journey, but he sounds like he’s got a family of frogs in his voice. Ouch. Yeah, and that guitar solo sucks monkey nuts too..

I think a part of the problem is that this song is iconic and the singing is iconic in itself. We have all heard it a million times before, so to hear it differently is shocking.

Nobody should try to sing like Steve Perry or try to dance like Michael Jackson.
