Against The Wall was supposed to be Perry's second solo lp, to be released in 1988. It was cancelled for some reason, but the songs have been separately released over the years. I made a playlist of these songs and I think it's pretty good, his voice was still in shape.

Never heard this story before..
I've heard all these songs over the years, and while they are fine. For the Love of Strange medicine is a great album. Massively underrated.
Perhaps if that album was released as intended, it would have made a better impression. But it made it seem like a bunch of Demos and leftovers

Re: Steve Perry- Against The Wall (unreleased LP 1988)
Had he released this as it shows above, I think it would have been well-received by his fans. But would it have been a big-big hit like Street Talk was? Maybe not. Summer of '88 had Monsters of Rock and saw GNR and Metallica in huge waves of popularity. It wasn't until late 1900 and early 1991 when some aging bands were having hits with rock ballads, but then again there isn't a top-shelf ballad among those songs. I suspect the record company was looking for one more song (a hit) and just wasn't quite finding it. I assumed Steve was going through some stuff (maybe drugs? depression?) around that time as he was really silent for about 6 years.
