Bang Tango

Post by thunderdan »

Only knew them a bit and watched their documentary. Shout out to "hair metal guru" best hair metal albums of the 90's who mentioned "love after death" you can't even get but it's on YouTube and is a slamming record like the panelist said. I'll listen to the 2 albums, or pick them up, but how good of a band do you think Bang Tango was? Any big fans? I guess the 1 big tour they got was 91 for Ratt?

Not a huge Bang Tango fan, but the 1st 2 CD's are good, and IMO the original line-up was a great live band.
I wasn't that impressed with the 3rd album "Love After Death".

Dancing On Coals was a huge step down. Almost no interesting songs. Third album even worse. Really, I only have time for the live EP and Psycho Cafe. The album gets closest to the energy of Guns N Roses as any of the late 80s "me too" bands did. And I really liked the songs built on bass lines (of which they had almost none after that album). Singer was pretty bad, but he had enough energy to carry it off on some of the songs. With his voice, they were NEVER going to be a big hit. It is what it is.

I love Bang Tango!
Psycho Cafe was perfection, start to finish!
Dancing on Coals was pretty good, no where near as good as Psycho Cafe.
I never really listened to anything after that.

The Live InJection ep is great! Great Hanoi Rocks cover of Futurama. Really thought they might be huge.

Psycho Cafe is also great!

I still like Dancing on Coals.

Love After Death was awlful !!

I have a version of Dancing On Coals where Futurama is an extra track. It's credited to Bang Tango, which is a bit naughty.

EP - 10/10

Psycho Cafe - 9/10

Dancin' - 6/10 - Original Demo's w/out overproduction/horns.... 8/10

Love after Death - 10/10 - My Fave 9, New Gen are KILLER tunes

Too Much on Dancing was pinned to the expectation of the ballad breaking them. The tune was not "there" at all.

Live, OG lineup - 10/10.

Chemistry of originals was awesome and Kyle Kyle was a monster on bass.........

Debut record stands out because of the bass lines and Joe had a bit of goth/growl in the lower register. And screamed his head off in the higher register.

Dancin on Coals: Even the band felt it was overproduced but I think it's a good record. More melodic, less heavy.

Love After Death: Totally different band. Still hard rock but no funk element at all. It's a decent record though.

Adding Ready to Go which is a good, straight ahead rock record. Better than Love After Death if you ask me.

No comments on the other albums though.

I agree "Ready to Go" is solid, and better than "Love After Death".

They also opened for Cheap Trick on the west coast. Not sure if Ratt would qualify as a big tour. The one boxscore I saw was 4000 in Detroit.

One of those "funky" bands that I normally would have hated....and wasn't the biggest fan of his voice, but somehow I really liked them. Debut was good, but Loved Dancing on Coals

They had a great rhythm section with good grooves. Not a lot of hooks in the songs though.

This reminds me... has anyone heard from Joe Leste? He had a stroke a couple years back. Was it from drugs/booze? How is he doing these days?

Shit band.
I had a best of somewhere in my playlist in my car at one point to check them out. Whenever a BT song came on I always skipped to the next track within a minute. Zero hooks, the songs are weak at best.

I was listening to Hair Band Radio app (very good!) and heard a sone by Saints & Sinners called Rip it up. Cool bass line and sweet riff. Good song
