This SANS MARS Crue is just... depressing

Post by Chip Z'Hoy »

Motley Crue without Mick Mars is like baking a pizza without cheese. Yeah, you can do it, but why would you want to. :(

Also well aware Mars is 74 and they still need to make money so they can keep getting divorced. I'm a realist.

I'm also 45. None of this matters to me. Prostate health matters to me.

Yeah, it's over.

Go seen Vince for $50 at a casino. Way more fun.

If I had to think of a metal guitarist less like Mick Mars, Id be hard pressed to think of anyone over John5

John always struck me as awkward on stage with Manson, Zombie, or the Crue. Not a big fan of his. Does he come from a session background? Seems better to not be seen.

In an interesting twist, that acoustic-y album he did with Roth has, so far, been Dave’s best work in years. Is that all out? There’s some really great tunes in there.

Do they even have anything lined up besides the postponed residency? What’s next?

They seem pretty inactive for a band that made such a big deal of coming out of retirement.

No one wants to work like a newly divorced/single guy.

Expect some "big things coming"-type posts sooner than later.

He moves like a guitar teacher . Alex Skolnik and Marty Friedman look awkward on stage in the same way. Dorky.

He's a rich kid with zero street cred. Lowery Organ money. Jason Newstead FU money.

He's live action role playing as a metal guitarist.

Mick for all his faults was the goddamn tits. His tone and freakish evil gnome energy was the Crue.

Yeah maybe the kids didn't get fed as often as one would hope but Mick was kicking ass nonetheless.

Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Paul Gilbert, Doug Aldrich and Tim Bogart all taught.

John is the first to admit he’s a huge dork.

Alex and Marty rule.

Mick was hit and miss with me. I never loved his tone and he was never a top favorite of mine. I’d pick Malm and CC Deville over Mick if I had to.

I know the band was really influential but they were one of the weakest links of the genre.

When I was playing in cover bands, there was always that random "40 year old virgin type", wearing a Dream Theater, Megadeth, Rush, etc. t-shirt, who would stand in front of the guitar player the entire show, then during a set break tell the guitar player all the nuances he missed on this song or that.............

It's weird because he's a huge KISS fan and Ace is the coolest guitarist of that generation and J5 comes on the scene looking like a complete dork wearing his guitar like a necklace.

I like and respect Rush but was far from a diehard. I wish I had been a bigger fan. They were a great band. Speaking of Rush, I always liked Alex’s playing but I remember him getting shredded on here with Chip leading the charge. Chip called him the weak link. Chip’s kind of an idiot at times. Rush had no weak links.

I am a lukewarm Megadeth fan at best. I didn’t mind a few songs here and there and they obviously had some impressive guys come through the ranks. I’ve only seen them twice. Once they were the middle act, the other time they were headliners.

I saw DT once live and they were impressive but I was never a big fan. I owned I&W back in the day and listened to it maybe four times.

I was a huge Motley fan growing up. I bought the bs. Their US Festival appearance is laughable at best and embarrassing at worst. How they became so big is beyond me. Even VH with a drunk DLR were way better. Scorpions were always a much better band with better songs and better players. I remember thinking MC were the worst band at the Moscow Music Peace Festival even with Fat Ozzy and the fake Russian band. Skid Row, Cinderella, Scorpions, Bon Jovi were all way better.

Regardless of sales, the genre had way better bands. Motley were hamburgers for the apocalypse.

Don't think I'm telling tales out of school when I say Alex is the outlier in Rush as he's not a virtuoso like Geddy and Neil. "Weak link"? Maybe said that before I was a Rush fan.

Which would have been pre-2008. Please stop holding so much space in your heart for shit I said 20 years ago.

Stop it already. Own your bs. This was within the last five or maybe ten years at most. To give you some perspective, that’s the distance between 2112 and Moving Pictures or Fly By Night and Power Windows. It was most certainly after you transitioned to a member of EZN.

Okay.

Who gives a fuck? Tone it down, Mark David Chapman.

Go do Eddie Vedder's job. What kind of point is this? "You can't point out that Michael Jordan is better than Scottie Pippen unless you can beat Pippen one-on-one."

Alex Lifeson is not as technically gifted as Neil and Geddy. How you've been made insane by this obvious statement is truly baffling.
