No denying this guy is pretty talented. He can play his Dad's solos and his Uncle's drum parts.

Undeniable talent yet some will still try to deny.

Genes, privilege, no doubt. You still don’t roll out of your gold crib with the ability to play like that.

He’s definitely talented. You can’t deny that but he’s also a bit of a prick on social media to old school fans.

He's like DuBrow in the 80's: talented for sure, but always putting his foot in his mouth.

It's true.
He is talented, he's just so fucking unlikeable! As much as I want to hate him, I don't really hate his songs. He seems to have grown up a tad, and got off the internet since he got married.
And lets not forget, he does have 20 years experience now. He's not the 15 year old kid that took Mike Anthony's job.
Nepotism? Sure, why not? Who wouldn't take that deal?

I feel like he came off pretty likable in that video and it was cool to see him happily talk about Van Halen.

To the extent of QR’s success, yes, but I do realize that is somewhat of an exaggeration.

I imagine dealing with a certain portion of your Dad's fans and people on the internet and trying to step out from VHs shadow in general probably sucks. He should just avoid it and not engage, but I certainly don't fault him for feeling the way he does.

This X 2

Reading some of the comments I'm thinking we have very different definition for talent. Plenty of people who can barely tune their guitar are more talented than WVH from my perspective. Writing somehow meaningful, memorable, unique or otherwise relevant songs is a must. I don't hear any of that in WVH.

He's 34 years old. It's OK to call him an asshole at this point.

Nobody is disputing that, but being able to play multiple instruments that well is impressive, I don't care what you say.

Yeah, but the CEO doesn't LIKE him, so that means he's a talentless hack with zero redeeming qualities.

Well said, I wholeheartedly agree! You've really hit on something important about WVH. Beyond his proficiency on multiple instruments, he's a talented songwriter who handles all the instrumentation on his tracks.

He might not be a 'virtuoso' on every instrument, but he doesn't need to be to create music I genuinely enjoy. Frankly, his personal quirks aside, WVH's musical talent is simply undeniable.

If the guy took an "I'm the luckiest guy in the world, aw shucks." self-deprecating approach to life and social media, he would be far more likeable to most people. Muckbang can play and sing well but his personality is a complete dealbreaker to ever liking him. Plus the fact that his music makes the Foo Fighters sound edgy

This all day. He was never not a whiny, entitled prick.

But can they play it live in front of millions of people and not just on a tiktok video where they have probably done 50 takes to try and get one that sounds good

That was pretty cool. I always like seeing/reading stuff on Alex because I feel like his amazing drumming is almost always overshadowed by his brother's playing. Wolfgang seems to be a solid drummer. I think I remember him saying that drums were his favorite thing to play.

A surprisingly bad take from someone who actually makes a living in the music biz.
