Songs from the Big Chair is their best album.

Kind of apples to oranges with the music styles here, so really I could go with both, but I'll go with TFF simply for Songs From the Big Chair, which is an absolute classic album. Hall and Oates are absolute legends with a ton of great hits, though.

Totally Hall & Oates!
They had so many good songs dating back to the mid 70's. Rich Girl and Sara Smile, and another one that I can't recall at the moment.
In the early 80's when MTV became a thing, they had so many good videos, cheesy as they were back then.
But they had hit after hit. Maneater, Private Eyes, You Make My Dreams Come True, She's gone, Kiss on my List, Outta Touch. And these are off the top of my heard. I could Google 10 more easily!
Tears for Fears were great, I liked them well enough. But they had two songs that I recall. Shout and Everybody Want's to Rule the World.
It's not really a competition

This.

H&O has a ton of song that everyone knows. An amazing greatest hits album.

Tears had the 2 big songs mentioned above....I'll also give them Mad world and Head Over Heels.

I saw Hall and Oates about a decade ago and Tears for Fears was opening, so clearly Hall and Oates had way more hits.

Definitely prefer Hall and Oates. Tears for Fears has a few great songs.

Voted Hall & Oates, but "The Seeds of Love" is one of my all-time favorite albums.

OK, I forgot those two. They were good, I'll give them that!

I’d have to go with HO just for the sheer number of known songs.
But I’d say Tears are deeper, more intricate.
And I’ve never heard their deep cuts.

I may one day change my mind

Hall & Oates, but I love “Elemental” from TFF, even if it was just Roland.

Obviously they are legendary, but H & O never spoke to me, so TFF.
For all the TFF fans, they released a new record of original material in 22 & another 5 new studio songs on a live release from 24 ICYMI. They still write & record excellent songs.

Both great, but Hall and Oates have more songs I like.

I still think it's hilarious that Hall put that restraining order on Oates a couple years ago. Who woulda thunk?

Agreed. Feels weird to compare the two. It's not we're talking about Roxy Blue and XYZ.

I remember thinking this was a perfect pairing to get both acts back in arenas. In my head, this tour was "recent", but I just looked it up: 8 years ago :| Tickets began at $35.

I saw the opening night and it was a DISASTER. Hall and Oates had been doing casinos for years, and their sound crew was not ready.

Tears for Fears sounded great. Hall and Oates came on and all you could hear the whole night was the vocals, bass, snare, and Daryls keys. People in my section were talking to each other trying to figure out if this was some kind of "Unplugged" thing, every song sounded like a breakdown all the way through.

TFF hadn't played a US gig in years at that point so I went & split right after, missing H&O. I hadn't went to an arena show, saw the openers & left, in a long time. IIRC, it was a work night, I was solo &, like the poster above said, tickets were cheap.
