Just found this BTS clip of a Lovebites show last year and who shows up but Nuno Bettencourt

https://youtu.be/KwpG9spmLi0?si=j9pf8_GMoeJWXIfz&t=365

Now I know he's no Robbin Crosby or Danny Carey, but damn, bro is barely bigger than the Lovebites girls. And just as pale.

In the clip of him in the audience, he's acting... strange. What do you think?

Yeah Nuno isn't the tallest guy around, and yeah all of the band members wear big heels (except the drummer). Honestly they look no shorter than the Japanese tourists I see every day.

As for Nuno spazzing out, he was being recorded by the Lovebites videographer so I'm sure he played up his reactions to sell the performance. I've seen a few live videos of the band, the music is pretty good, I just have a hard time with the singer's voice. Oh and the song titles/lyrics are unintentionally hilarious metal troupe concoctions.

Well obviously Haruna can't wear heels, especially the way she double basses. She's 4'8, btw.

I get what you are saying about Asami's voice. She's not the worst offender, either. That honor goes to Kimi from Bridear. Great power metal band but she doesn't sing, she squeals.

As for the lyrics, well, English is not their native language. Writing lyrics in your non-native tongue is gonna lead to some hairballs.

Obviously Nuno is playing up for the camera. It also reminds me why I've almost never gone to a metal or punk show and sat upstairs: it just looks so awkward. I've skipped tours where I've been too late to get the floor tickets.

Also I've zero interest in the manga and visual kei scenes so it's nice to see footage of them playing (soundchecking) in their street clothes. The new EP is superb, BTW. Best thing they've done for a while.

As for the Japlish lyrics, they're still better than a whole bunch of hair metal bands who supposedly have English as a first language. Unskinny Bop or Uh All Night for example.

Well those girls are not a part of either scene. They wear white as an anti-gimmick; since every metal band wore black, they wore white just to be different.

BTW did you see they are playing Budokan next year?

I know they're not manga but every Japanese metal band seems to have a uniform so I just lump them all in together.

I had no idea about Budokan. I wonder if it depresses them to come (occasionally) to Europe and have to play small clubs. I saw them last July in a 600-capacity place.

I doubt it. Their IGs are full of sightseeing pictures and having good meals. They are not starving artists paying their dues like a western band would at their level.
