Breakfast Club - "Right on Track"

Post by dmbrocker »

Not a Sludge act, but here's yet another lost one hit wonder to wax nostalgic about on here, and especially great to listen to within the context of a SiriusXM 80's on 8 top 40 countdown (I should probably consider covering this one on a top 40 rundown thread, too). this one went top ten and featured Madonna songwriter Stephen Bray on drums (Madonna herself was once a member in the groups earliest days, in fact). It's just a very catchy and fun pop hit! Who remembers this one?

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

Your opinion. She's one of the best pop singers of the whole damn 80's, IMO. But what about the Breakfast Club song?

That one, too, but I meant the one I posted in the OP.

Spotted this CD in a used bin at a record store here in town. Picked it up for that song alone. Never listened to the rest of the CD.

Per Wiki, "They were nominated in the category of Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in 1988.". Really? With all the music coming out at that time & The Breakfast Club gets the nom?

Haven't heard this song since the 80s. Fun song.

I was curious about where some of these guys are now and was somewhat shocked that the singer is 78 years old (born in 1947). That means he was 39 or 40 in that video. It's almost unheard of for a person to be that old in their debut video. Oh, and he was in a relationship with Shelley Duvall.
