My alarm clock is from the early 80’s

I’m 50, and I’ve had that thing since I was around 8 years old. Still works just fine.
Also the microwave at my mom and dad’s house…we brought that with us from the old house when they moved in 1984.

My mom still has the chest freezer she got as a wedding gift in 1967. Still works like a damn. She also still has the same fridge and stove from 1982 that still work fine too, other than the clock in the stove lol.

I am also 50. I received an alarm clock for Christmas when I was 9. The thing was badass. It had a digital clock and a cassette player, along with AM/FM radio.

Sometime in the mid-90s, a cassette of Steve Miller's Greatest Hits 74-78 got stuck in there. But I still used the alarm clock.

The digital display finally died when I was in my early 40s. I was heartbroken.

On a related note, my grandmother died a few years ago at age 93. Her house is empty but is still owned by the family. In the kitchen is a working refrigerator that she purchased in the 1950s. Thing is a beast.

We have an 80s beer / overflow fridge that was left here by the previous owners of the house. It's still running fine. Meanwhile, we're on our 2nd modern fridge in 20 years in the kitchen and it probably doesn't have long.

Manufacturers figured out to not make things last long to increase sales. Planned obsolescence.

we have a kelvinator stand up freezer in the basement...still going strong...nobody remembers how old it is but we're sure it's older than i am...d.m.

I gotta confess that I still have 2 VCR's and 1 dupe deck (that's 2 cassettes so you can play on one and record on the other. the Japs created it. It scared the hell out of the record industry for a minute).

They are all broke and just taking up space along with my VHS and cassette collection. Literally just sitting there untouched for 20 years and counting.

My car is more new though. It's a '96 Nissan.

Bought one at Walmart over 20 years ago. It's falling apart as I have dropped it many times, but it still tells time just perfect.

Those cheapo digital alarm clocks are the best!!!

Trucks are another story! I bet things a beast. Strong as hell, right? What’s the point of buying a new one?

They make the new models more user friendly but they always seem to lack the power of previous models.

So do I, although it is not my daily driver. It was the first nice thing I ever bought - got it new for $12k and my dad had to co-sign the note. I was 24 years old.

It has a manual transmission and roll-up windows. It holds many memories for me.
