I have never heard that song.
But have you heard this episode of the "Reply All" podcast? It is amazing, and is about the very thing you are talking about - remembering a song from your youth and going crazy trying to track it down. It is my very favorite podcast episode of all time.

That is a great episode, was way more interesting than I thought it would be.

This band seems to be a product of that awkward period when the '80s collided with the '90s. (See also: White Trash, Electric Love Hogs, etc.)
