Musicians replacing OG members and becoming full members
I think of guys like Robert Trujillo and Ray Luzier becoming full members of Metallica and Korn after replacing the original members. Are musicians who are offered positions like this actually “full share” or are they brought at say 5-15% share of the band? Who else was brought in after the fact as a full share, paid member?

Ron Wood, Matthias Jabs and Vivian Campbell. Vivian is really the only one who replaced an OG since both Ron and Matthias replaced replacements. Same with Trujillo.

Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, and Alan White in Yes (not Trevor Rabin as he didn't replace an OG)
Steve Hogarth and Ian Mosley in Marillion
Steve Hackett in Genesis (until they let him go)
Fernando von Arb in Krokus (not Marc Storace as he didn't replace the original singer)
Jonathan Cain in Journey
Sammy Hagar in Van Halen (Sam even brought his manager, which made him temporarily like 40% of the band)
David Gilmour in Pink Floyd
Steve Hogarth and Ian Mosley in Marillion
Steve Hackett in Genesis (until they let him go)
Fernando von Arb in Krokus (not Marc Storace as he didn't replace the original singer)
Jonathan Cain in Journey
Sammy Hagar in Van Halen (Sam even brought his manager, which made him temporarily like 40% of the band)
David Gilmour in Pink Floyd

Brian Johnson. The intro-net says that at first he was a paid member, but then got full status w/ royalties, etc...

The bass player singer in Little River Band. Then he was last man standing and when 2 of the OG's wanted back in he said fuck you I own it all now and I'm paying scabs.
Christine, Stevie, Lindsey in FM.
Felder in the Eagles. Until Don and Glenn said fuck that when Hell Freezes Over tour started.

It was the lead guitarist who joined in 1981 in LRB who ended up with the name. He hasn't actually played with the band in almost 20 years, he just stays home and collects the cash. The bass player joined the band shortly before the guitar player, but left for a bit in the 90s, so he's an employee.Venus Flytrap wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 3:03 am The bass player singer in Little River Band. Felder wasn't a replacement, they went from a four piece to a five piece.

I was under the impression Steve quit. Is that not the case?

How much cash does one make from playing the Peoria Holiday Inn? I can't imagine that the Little River Band is a cash cow.woblinweebles wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 7:24 amIt was the lead guitarist who joined in 1981 in LRB who ended up with the name. Possible. But he was a member, and he replaced the OG (Anthony Phillips).Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 9:08 amI was under the impression Steve quit. Is that not the case?

Re: Musicians replacing OG members and becoming full members
Maybe it is because the bass player is from this area, but they seem to come through the area at least once or twice a year. Most of the time they play one of the casinos, but they sometimes book theaters, summer festivals, state fairs, etc... My friends' band opened for them at one of those festivals and that's how I found out they had no original members, just one classic one. This summer they are playing the big shed with the equally scabtastic Three Dog Night, so they must be making decent money.ElectrickMagick wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 9:53 amHow much cash does one make from playing the Peoria Holiday Inn? Re: Musicians replacing OG members and becoming full members
Bass player of Rival Sons. Replaced guy after first album I believe. I remember singer said they had to ensure all was good with writing, touring etc before he became a full member. That was well over 10 years ago.
I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. These two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Close, it's actually guitarist Stephen Housden who owns the name. Seems like a p.o.s. to me. Perhaps the og guys need to take notes from that Guess Who guy who was able to pull all of his music and prevent it from being played live so the scab Guess Who couldn't play any of the well known hits.Venus Flytrap wrote: ↑Mon Jun 16, 2025 3:03 am The bass player singer in Little River Band. Ron Wood became a full partner in the Stones in 1990, about fifteen years after he joined the band. Better late than never...
