Went to Wage War/Volbeat/3 Days Grace show last night..probably about 10K there and......
No one had their phones out. A few here and there, but was just a bunch of people (of all ages) enjoying a rock show. First time in years, or maybe decades, that I have seen this.

Pretty much this.
In the last 20 years or so, people get too carried away with stuff that isn't their business or concern them in any way. I suppose the older you get, the further that goes back but that's my starting point.

I enjoy filming a couple of songs, but that's it for me.
As long as nobody is blocking my view, I'm, good.
On that note, last time I saw Danzig, he had a strict rule: No filming.
I saw a bunch of people get their phones smacked by security when they tried. Seeing that all but made me want to film just to piss Danzig off.

As long as their phone isn’t blocking my view, I completely agree.

I get it, and I don’t.
What is there to see at a concert? Do you need to stare at the bass player for the 63 minute set? After you’ve watched the drummer for 20 seconds, you’ve seen all they’re going to do.
So people have their phones obstructing your view of the guys playing instruments sometimes. And? What did you miss? Are you analyzing the JFK assassination? Gotta see every second?

Fuck phones. I was at a decent sized private midsummer party last Friday and it was overall nice but i don't think there was a second that wasn't csptured on someone's camera. WTF happened to having fun, interacting with people and living in the moment?
As for concerts it's time to revive the 1990s taper section where you can record and film with any equipment you want so we get at least one quality recording per show instead of fifty chips from various handheld phones.

I don't break the phone out at dinner, concerts etc., but don't care if others do. As far as concerts, I don't get it because the show is usually on YouTube within 24 hours in full, high quality audio & video, sometimes multi cam edits. Whatever video you're taking, it pales in comparison.

There were some kids walking through my neighborhood and they stayed off my lawn.

The band people paid money to see without other people's phones blocking their view? Doesn't seem unreasonable.

Sold better than expected. Probably 10-12k
Average age was probably late 20s
Probably 50/50 male female
80% of the crowd seemed glued to snap chat
Volbeat was better than expected
Three Days Grace made the right call keeping Matt when they brought Adam back. Adam doesn’t seem to struggle as much as he used to I’m assuming because he’s not screaming every song in a row
Uber driver sucked
Double crown and Coke was $22
Merch was there. Didn’t look
Volbeat was better than expected

I feel the same way about the people recording everything. When the hell are you going to really watch that again? You just HAD to record every second of the show, knowing good and well someone else is doing the same thing and it will be on YouTube tomorrow?

I'm thankful for the filmers ... Shows that I miss, or are halfway around the world, I end up seeing a couple hours after they are over. We get to see things like James Labrie trip and fall on stage. Or Geoff Tate spit a loog on Scott Rockenfield.
