When the song was popular, I lived in Phoenix. The Jonathon Brandmeier morning show on KZZP called 867-5309 in every area code. They eventually claimed to have tracked down Jenny somewhere in Mexico.

281-7668 is in the Faster Pussycat song Bathroom Wall, and it dialed their hotline.

Years ago I worked for a small telephone company that had an 867 prefix. I looked up the Jenny number out of curiosity and it was inactive with the notes section flashing in red "DO NOT ACTIVATE THIS NUMBER FOR ANYONE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES" I asked one of my veteran coworkers about it and he laughed and told me they'd issued it to two different people by request over the last 20 years thinking it would be funny but it ended up being a major hassle for the customer and the phone company.
