""""""""""""""" Pretty good stories """""""""""""""""""""""

You mean the stories about how Poison stole their show?

That's pretty old and weak... Poison moved away to L.A. in what, 1983, 1984? And Kix had 3-4 albums out before Poison did.

40+ years later and he's talking about how Poison stole their show, because they used balloons, confetti and dropped to their knees in their choreography?

I didn't know Steve Whiteman and Kix invented and copyrighted all of that?

I want to say Poison arrived in Hollywood in March 1984.

Kix had some good songs but I was never blown away by them. Poison were a much better band with much better records.

To be fair, the Poison guys DID knick all of that straight from Kix. They idolized those guys, and to hear them tell it, the best show you could ever see was Kix at Hammerjacks.

The Poison house was where I first heard of Kix, and the first place I heard Kix's records.

As to whether Whiteman should get past it...I dunno, but it's a fair cop.

i just remember KIX always had that somewhat cheap magazine ad. it was like a coupon or something. I have watched some of the podcast highlights. I saw the one where Steve said he made 500 dollars a week for 18 years and that was it. He also got a 200 dollar per diem. they only made money on merch sales. Atlantic kept them in debt according to him.

Wasn't there some story that they owed so much to the record company that Midnight Dynamite just paid off the debt so they didn't get anything from it?

Yeah it's not like they saw them once and said, "hey, let's copy those guys". They were both from S. Central PA, Kix was definitely a big influence on them.

Heh. Stone's throw from the state line tho. People from that area liked them and viewed them as their own. I went to school w/ kids from York, PA who told me about them.

I find it laughable that the diehard KIX fans think, "Poison stole everything from KIX!" Lol.

How about Van Halen, and Motley Crue, or Bon Jovi, Ratt and 100 other rock bands... or was it just KIX who made Poison?

I mean... let's be real... I went and saw Slave Raider, Moxy Roxx and Raven Bitch locally in Wisconsin, and sure... they were ahead of me, bigger show, etc...

And, I will say, I loved a lot of things about them as they were closer to home, and I could stand in a club (3 feet from them) and see it up close and personal.

But at the end of the day, it was really Motley Crue, Van Halen and Ratt, that were my biggest influences.

Nobody ever saw Poison and thought, "They remind me of KIX!" except for, a small flock of diehard KIX fans.

When KIX would play the West Coast, they would be an opener or support in some of the club shows, their name was club level at best for most of the decade.

Also... KIX had 3 record out, before Poison were even signed... in the end, Poison went 100x further, and sure, Bret & Rikki acknowledged they liked KIX, but it's pretty arrogant of Steve to think that it was all his shtick and KIX who made Poison.

That's a lot of F#@king nonsense!

Actually, the band Pair-a-dice did that... and a lot of what you see in the "Down Boys" video, was literally spot on to what Pair-A-Dice did in the clubs.

I guess it's like Axl ripping off Richard Black of Shark Island.

Also... as for KIX dropping to their knees, and whatever else... so... nobody thinks Jim Dandy, Jim Morrison, David Bowie, David Lee Roth, Iggy Pop, and 100 other 70's artists didn't do it before them?

I've listened to Steve's Potcast, and outside of his immediate Baltimore base of die-hard worshipers, who would eat his Sh!t if he packaged it for sale... nobody is claiming the band KIX as their one and only main influence!
