Wolfgang cancels...schedule conflicts?

So, I was dicking around looking at the band list for the Back to the Beginning show, as I might break down and buy the livestream, and the whole thing with Wolfgang cancelling came up.
I know it's old news now, but, is it just me or does that explanation not wash?
The show starts at 8 AM Eastern on July 5th. Even if Wolfgang was slated to play later in the day, he'd probably be done by 3 PM at the latest.
His excuse was the Creed tour starts the next day. It doesn't. The Creed tour doesn't start until July NINTH. Granted, it's 16 hours of flying to get from Birmingham to Lexington, KY, but even if he spends the night in Birmingham, spends July 6th traveling, that still puts him in Lexington on the 7th, giving him the 7th to rest and the 8th to rehearse.
I mean, it's a little tight, but it's not like the show was in Sydney.
And I like Wolfgang, so unless there's other tour commitments that I'm not aware of, it just seems super weird to not play what's probably going to go down as a historic concert. Even Judas Priest specifically did a video for War Pigs since they can't attend due to playing the Scorpions 60th anniversary gig.

Did it ever come out about who was “kicked off” the bill? I haven’t been paying much attention.

Not that I've seen. But I wouldn't be surprised if that was all bullshit and Sharon was just trying to come up with something that would grab headlines.

I’ve never left Oz, so I’m just guessing.
As I type this it’s 2.53 on Thursday the 3rd of July.
Would he have to cross the dateline?

Hard to believe they found someone better than Wolfgang Van Halen
Priest is opening for Scorpions

? imagine that
Maybe it’s a rare thing when opener considered better?
I’m going to see Rebecca Black open for Katy Perry slut at Showtime Forum
Trixter opened for Scorpions..that is another time opener was better
Alice is opening for Priest at Showtime Forum..normally Alice would win but Priest better be doing 7 from Painkiller still for me
Rebecca Black opening for Katy Slut better than Painkiller 7 in 2025
I have no show conflicts and I can eat all Round Table pizza I want
Wolfie life is sad and pathetic #fact.i won

Oh, now that's interesting. I could see their manager not getting along with Sharon, for sure.

Let’s be realistic, there is no demand for Wolf at this show. Who cares if he cancelled.

I'd rather see him than that Sleep Token member #2, or whatever that bullshit is.

He probably got told the gig would cost him money, so he decided on a couple of days extra on the sofa.

Youre insane, Judas Priest is great, but Scorpions r better, still. Trixter was never better than Scorpions, not even close, and Trixter are mediocre these days

Perhaps he canceled because he was afraid Hagar would try to push him to perform with him and this was the easiest way to squash that. We all know that even if Wolfgang wouldn't have canceled but declined Hagar's invitation, Hagar would advertise how he and Wolfgang had a real heart to heart talk and Wolfgang told him the Hagar era was best and they always outsold the Roth era.

Wolfgang seems like a stretch to even be involved to begin with. Shit even VH is a bit of a stretch.

I wonder if he was the person that wanted to get paid that got kicked off. Sharon is supposed to reveal the person or group after the event

I thought the same thing. Also makes me wonder if Nuno is playing some of the parts originally planned for him, because he's been up there a LOT.

Was Eddie/VH BIG Sabbath fans? Or played Sabbath covers early on?

Yes Eddie called Tony a riff master.

They did play sabbath covers in their club days.
Then Sabbath took van Halen out on their first world tour and even though van Halen blew Sabbath off the stage every night, Sabbath did not kick them off the tour and Iommi and Eddie van Halen became life long friends until Eddie passed...

Why would that nobody be involved if they are making it out to be a legends only fest.

They also toyed with the idea of calling their band Rat Salad.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Wolfgang bailed because Sammy Hagar was on the bill.
I'm not the biggest Wolfie fan, far from it. But would you really want to deal with Hagar on a show like this if you were him?
F' that! There would be a "conflict" in my schedule for sure!

"No demand"?, we are talking about a guy who has spent the last 5 +/- "in the trenches" cultivating a fan base with his engaging stage presence and unforgettable song craft. Waffle is an inspiration to any aspiring artist, knowing that you can start from nothing, but with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. So if anyone deserves to be on that stage with those other iconic musicians and bands, its Wolfie.

Not Manson, he did a tribute on the show.
However, haven't seen Rob Zombie's name mentioned yet. Could see either him or the SOAD guys.

I actually could see Wolf wanting to avoid the awkward Hagar bullshit with the pictures and Sam milking it for all its worth in the press. Probably wasn't worth it.
