Jerry Lynn Williams

Post by tooth »

Anyone know this guy? I'm going to see Eric Clapton for the first time so I'm brushing up. I was never a EC hardcore but obviously know a ton of EC songs & I especially like his 80's songs. Further research shows Jerry Lynn Williams wrote two of my faves, Forever Man & Pretending. Wiki says he recorded a lone solo record & has written songs for other artists. I'm fired up to check this guy out.

He's a great writer, be it R&B, Country, Pop or whatever.
I know I met him a few times, but don't recall. He wrote a hit, "Giving It Up For Your Love," and other songs for a guy I worked for, Delbert McClinton.

As long as I'm learning something, I figure I'm OK - it's a decent day.

Atlantic brought him in to write 3 more "hits" for Clapton's Behind the Sun because his last album flopped and they didn't feel that there were any sjngles in the 1st 10 songs he did with Phil Collins. Ted Templeman produced.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.
