They had some cool tunes and the singer is a hilariously huge asshole. That story from when he couldn't sing because he said he was sick or something and then sat in the balcony watching the band play is hilarious RnR lore as far as I am concerned. Brothers in bands rarely work out well. I know from experience.

No question. As an aside, saw Foo Fighters on Austin City Limits last night. Absolute garbage, trying to play acoustic(ish). Totally unremarkable songs, no hooks, just noise.

The two bands are right up there in the 'WTF how did they get popular?' pantheon. Both have to be record label manufactured popularity.

I reckon the first Oasis album is near perfect, up there with Appetite.
They never got any better, with each subsequent album having more filler.

Agreed. 1st is full of piss+vinegar attitude and great tunes. 2nd is much more professional and has the 'anthems'. After that, it's all coked-up, believe your own hype, turgid nonsense.

I saw them once at a festival, lasted about a third of the set but was mainly watching the lightning storm miles in the distance, then went to see someone else far better.

Good band with a lot of very good songs. The clips I've seen from their shows in Cardiff and Manchester are impressive. The fans seem to be enjoying it.

All the slagging off - between Liam and Noel, and between them and other bands - that has happened in the British press over the years is idiotic, but that's just part of the deal over there.

I prefer Noel Gallagher solo, not just because Liam is can be annoying as fuck after a while, but I think I like Noel better as a singer, and there isn't as much hype surrounding his career outside of Oasis.

I used to not like them, didn't get the appeal.

In the last 3 years they've become one of my all time favourite bands.
