Great guitar player and tight band. Something I read yesterday and hopefully someone can confirm that there was a very very small crowd at the show last night? I dig how Dave pops up here and there with a live show. Otherwise traveling the world and being a “regular” fellow.

The band sounded great.

No one would be sad if DLR stopped.

Accepting the fact that he can’t sing so well any more, that was entertaining.
If you were as close as the bloke filming I think it would be hard not to have a good time.

And the colour in his tattoos is astounding.

Sad that he can't even do his little goof dance anymore. A half a kick here and a quarter shimmy there, is about all he's got left.

The butt motions are pretty cringed up. Reminds me of that last show where he turns to the drum riser and spreads out like he's going to get ass pummeled.

Band is ok especially the guitarist.

There are reports that there was maybe 1,500 people there at most in a venue that holds 15,000. Supposedly nobody was there. I haven't found any photos but it's being discussed on the Van Halen forums.

Dave looks good (for being 70 and, well, being Diamond Dave), but he still sounds horrible.

I think this was somewhat expected though. The rest of the tour is booked in smaller venues, this was a one off at the fair, and they were probably expecting people from the fair to show up and fill some seats, rather than presales.

I don't think Roth was actually expecting the same crowd that saw Van Halen there ten years ago.

I wonder what is he wearing under the vest? Maybe some kind of brace?

I Do not know of it is true but I heard he has been a smoker all his life. Cigarettes will kill your voice. Halford was bad for awhile but he quit smoking and got most of it back I think in the late 90s

This is true, Roth has always smokes
But Halford must have quit around the Priest reunion or Angel of Retribution as he sounded pretty crap on the Halford solo tours..

Also, sucks being Roth when two of the must play classics are songs he never could do live. He sounded bad on Hot for Teacher and Dance the Night Away even in the 80s when he could handle most other songs.

Agree with all this.

He's old..still got that stupid schtick...but he's still here, having fun and playing VH tunes.

I'd go see him at this stage in a second. Would I spend 100 bucks...no, but a summer night at a fair for 50..i'm all in.

I saw a screenshot of the tickets for sale about 3 hours before the show and no way he got 1500 at that show unless they were almost ALL last minute walk up's. He had 500 maybe tops there..

His memory is going...

At 1:03 he says he had 4 beers....

Fast forward to 1:39 mark, same lame story and he says he had 2 beers...

I saw a post about this show on FB and someone said 1,000 people tops but no photos yet.

Seriously. The band is tight as fuck. As much as I like Satriani as a player, Estrada is much better at getting that Ed sound out.

That wasn't bad except for his timing, delivery and pitch. But who looks for those qualities in a lead singer?

The old man stare creeped me out! He does it a few times. He just completely stops and stares for a second.

But hey...he never got fat and he's still a rock star. Glad to see him back on stage.
