Tough call between Paranoid and Sabotage for me.


This is sludge so I'm sure we will get some votes for Technical Ecstasy, Never Say Die, and 13!

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. First album my parents confiscated

Tough call...I went with Sabotage.

Paranoid is awesome, but I've heard it way too much! Master of Reality and Vol. 4 are my other favourites.

Yeah no kidding. But this is Love Industry who also thinks Rocket Queen and the Zoo suck.

Master of Reality - if for no other reason than hearing it blaring from my brothers room before distorted guitars made sense to me.

SBS - best album overall, which also happens to contain the best Black Sabbath song, Spiral Architect. Don't argue; you're wrong.

All of them are great, but if I have to settle on one, it would be Master of Reality. Side one is perfection.

Paranoid would definitely be my least favourite. For me Technical Ecstasy is the best Sabbath album. Underrated as hell. Backstreet Kids and Dirty Women are masterpieces. All Moving Parts, You Won’t Change Me are great. Some of Iommi’s best guitar work is on here. I love the experimental, prog Black Sabbath of the last 4 Ozzy albums a lot more than the first four

Vol 4 is one of my favorite albums by anyone, ever

My ranking would be:

1) Technical Ecstasy
2) Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
3) Master of Reality
4) Sabotage
5) Never Say Die
6) Volume 4
7) Black Sabbath
8)Paranoid

I don’t consider “13” to be a Sabbath album. Just a slapped together pile of trash without a single interesting riff. Just sounds like outtakes from the mediocre later Ozzy solo albums

Vol 4 for me. I love every song on that album.

I can’t choose between the debut, Paranoid and SBS.

I do like TE and NSD. I probably listen to those five more than anything.

Another vote for Speak of the Devil, which I recently got an original pressing on vinyl.

Excellent question, and I can only answer that at the time I found it to be a raw, in your face "live" album with excellent production that I loved throughout my teens, so it has a special meaning. I also hadn't been properly introduced to Sabbath prior, so many of the songs were the first time I heard them. I also didn't know Gillis and Sarzo as hair metal guys, and you have to admit it was one hell of a tight band.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. That's where it all came together.

Because they were never that good live. SOTD was a genius marketing maneuver by Charon. Got new product on the shelves while they regrouped from Randy's death and it shit all over the Sabs' subpar Live Evil.
