Not gonna lie -- been spinning lots of Ozzy lately, but a few new tunes managed to catch my attention as well.
Jani Lane Re-Imagined - all six songs released so far (https://www.youtube.com/@chrislaney72/videos)
It's been really cool to hear producer/multi-instrumentalist Chris Laney's "reimaginings" of Jani's old demos. Hopefully these songs will end up on other platforms soon.
Firehouse - Mighty Fine Lady (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ms9KPTQighU)
I know this came out a while back, but I didn't want to spend a buck to hear it! Looks like they finally added it to digital platforms in late June, but I didn't realize that at the time. Not a classic by any means, but it's a solid throwback to the early '90s, and it sounds like a Firehouse song should.
Hell In the Club - The Devil Won't Forget Me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gs5XgnPaIog)
Cool Italian band who came on my radar a few years back, but who I eventually stopped paying attention to for whatever reason. Then they changed singers and I figured they were toast... but it turns out the new singer is a female with a killer gritty/raspy/ballsy voice. Turns out they released two other singles with her prior to this one -- they're all good.
Ellefson-Soto - Unbreakable (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6mNNTuB5)
Even though I dig JSS, I slept on their first record and didn't expect much from this -- but it's a strong heavy melodic rock tune. Looking forward to hearing more.
Alpha Destroyer - Fast Lane (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ix7PQIZ0i1o)
Crashdiet and Buckcherry members make a song that sounds like Crashdiet meets Buckcherry.
Bryan Adams - A Little More Understanding (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avMSEjtOjR0)
Nothing groundbreaking, but pleasant enough. Glad he's still doing his thing.
There were some new albums I checked out over the course of the month that I don't think I'll ever listen to again (Alice Cooper and Laguna come to mind), and the latest Shiraz Lane single had me once again scratching my head, but all things considered, a decent month. Just wish I'd find more new acts to enjoy instead of just old favorites!
