Ultimate Sin 40th?

Post by RaceFan3 »

Next year is the 40th anniversary of Ozzy's Ultimate Sin. Think there's any chance of an anniversary edition/box set?

I was hoping they'd do one anyway, but now with Ozzy's death I wonder if it would make more/less sense? Up to Sharon, probably?

A remastered version of the album
Live show from that tour
The Ultimate Ozzy video
Demos, outtakes, etc.

I'd buy it.
*I kinda want a new screenname. Seriously. I barely watch racing anymore. :x

I'm sure Charon will give it its ultimate due.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

No chance IMO.

It's been out of print for 30 years for a reason.

Yep - that Jake would have to be paid.

Best case scenario, there's a small Ultimate Sin merch collection in the Ozzy webstore.

Seems like the Osbournes camp is cool with the Jake Lee camp but I don't think the Bill Susan thing ever went away with them.

I think it’s some mix of:

-There have been rumors for years that Phil didn’t properly credit his bandmates in Wild Life who may not have co-wrote the song, which probably meant the Osbournes had to pay them to go away.

-That issue aside, Phil wrote them a hit song and then refused to write more tunes for them without renegotiating publishing. At which point the Osbournes realized they couldn’t take advantage of him and he was fired.

I imagine letting the album go OOP is their way to get back at Soussan for some or all of the above.

As long as Ray didn't jizz anywhere close to the studio we are golden.

No he wouldn't, he sold them his publishing after he was fired. They don't owe him a dime for that album because he willingly made that deal. Bark At The Moon, on the other hand, he was never given publishing to begin with, and got fucked for sure.

The issue at hand is with Phil Soussan's writing (or his ex-bandmates' writing) of Shot In The Dark.

Though technically it has not been out of print for 30 years, they reissued it on vinyl in 2019 and 2025 for the See You On The Other Side box sets.
