Didn't get into them much after this. But it sure is a fun album. We played the hell out of it the summer it was released

Great album...a bit overproduced for my taste tho.
They were fantastic live at the time. The rawness they had got glossed over on the album.
They're still great live.

An absolut on fire album and band. They should have kept the original name and been ‘uge.

It's alright. I want to like it more than I actually do.
Saw them support Whitesnake in 2006ish and they were great live. As were Whitesnake that day.

I like this one quite a bit. Half of the songs are great. It did very well in the UK and peaked at #2 on the UK albums chart. There is a much better raunchier version of "There She Goes Again" they released earlier as a single and video on an independent label in 1988, compared to the subdued and pop sounding one on the album:

Great album, though I just prefer their debut, non-album single Mayfair. Didn't really follow them after that. Did they stay rocking or did they go all balladeering like Tyla / Dogs D'Amour? If the former, any specific recommendations?

^ IMO, Quireboys "This is Rock N' Roll" (2001), is their 2nd best after the debut. And/also "Amazing Disgrace" (2019), and the latest "Wardour Street" (2024) are also worth checking out.

That could be used to review a lot of the albums/groups from this period.

I've listened to This is R+R twice this week. First time i wasn't convinced but it was nagging me for a 2nd play. A bit too much keyboard, and not as "fun" as the debut, but yeah that's a damn good album..

It's good bluesy Stones/Rod Stewart-influenced hair metal. Nothing more, nothing less. The singles are great, but the rest of the album is just fair to good, but still listenable when I'm in the mood for it.

Good record, though they left their best song Mayfair out.
