What's the process to bring a friend/handler/family member on a tour vs. a residency??

The Klaus thread had me thinking, no way those guys are just there in Vegas solo. First of all, they are elderly & secondly, they are there for an extended time. Then I thought of the rumor that the real reason Stan Lynch got fired from TP & the HB's. Supposedly, he he spoke up when Mike Campbell brought his family on tour, thus harshing the sex drug vibe that most were looking for out of said tour. So how does it work? What's the etiquette of "bringing someone" along on tour?

One of the reasons Dave Lombardo was let go (or quit) from Slayer the first time around was because he insisted on bringing his wife on tour with the band.

I wonder, did Dave pay out of pocket for everything for her? Or does she get to partake in the catering, ride/fly from stop to stop, sleep in Dave's room etc. courtesy of "Slayer Inc"? Or is it something worked out beforehand like "ok, she can get this and this, but she has to pay for that and the other things"?

When I used to tour, if somebody brought a GF out for a while, then everybody would try to schedule theirs to come out at the same time to get it out of the way. We used to refer to this conglomerate of significant others as THE FUN POLICE, because everybody had to act like we were nice young men who were NOT rolling across the country in a drug addled haze looting, pillaging and fucking anything that moved.

It was worse if just one guy had his chick out because then EVERYBODY had to be on their best behavior anyway, as all of the girlfriends were at least acquaintances and word would get back from liiiike, the drummer's wife to the singer's girlfriend that the singer was stacking them 3 deep every night or whatever.

There was a lot of energy expended in tracking these GFs and stuff in what was a hilariously over the top spy parody way. "Okay, I just heard on the walkie that Gladys has left the venue and is headed for the hotel. It's safe to bring chicks on the bus and break out the blow!"

I would imagine that it is different with a band of 70-somethings...but not much.

Are they even staying in Vegas? A lot of acts (U2 and Rod Stewart for sure) commute in from LA. Scorpions might not be at that level. Aerosmith stayed there but all different hotels.

For some older acts tours are treated as working vacations. Museums, attractions, finest restaurants, seeing old friends along the way with a 2-3 shows a week. Rolling Stones bring the family along but they are traveling in a jumbo jet, staying at the Four Seasons and the backstage is a massive compound with multiple dressing rooms spaced apart as far as possible from each other.

In the 2000's Ronnie's wife was on the payroll and it was thought she would help keep him sober. Turns out they were totally co-dependent and he sobered up once she was out of the picture.
