A similar situation to the Autograph vs. Autograph Beyond dispute is unfolding with the band Saliva. Yes, their music may not appeal to everyone, but as a music business experiment, let’s see who comes out on top. Legally, "Team Temu Saliva" likely holds the trademark to the name since Josey Scott left the band. However, if you polled fans leaving a Shinedown concert—or a show by a similar band—asking which member deserves the name Saliva, wouldn’t "Team Josey" win? I believe so. Out of respect for the fans, the Temu team should relinquish the name to Josey. It’s tough for the new lineup, but it feels like the right move.

The name Saliva is repulsive. It's honestly worse than Snot somehow. If a bands name grosses me out forget it.


I voted for Team Jackass even though he quit the band. I like that he's carrying the old school Sludge mentality of talking shit in the press. I'm here for it.

Dumbass Josie left the band on his own accord to start a career in Christian music which backfired on his ass. Josie has since been crying about wanting back in Saliva way before Wayne Swinney died.

Wah wah I quit Saliva and talked shit about them but since my solo career didn't pan out i want back in, wah wah. Life ain't fair I should be allowed to come back wah wah.

How many original members are still in the band that has the name?

Long time friends with nu guy’s wife. Never listened to them until she married him. Guess they’re good for that type of music. I guess

Am I wrong or was Josey not back in the band like within the last 2 to 3 years? Do we know for a fact you actually owns the bands name?

This is a similar situation to what happened to TSOL. In that case the singer and drummer quit and got replaced. Eventually the guitarist quit and the bassist was fired. The original band reunited and played some shows but the new singer had started a band full of scab musicians with the TSOL name and it took him getting taken to court for the original band to regain rights to the name.
