What Huge Rock Acts Have Destroyed Their Legacies More - A Poll

Which one of these bands destroyed their legacy more? When these bands were on top of the world, which one fell the furthest and you would never have imagined them being in the shape they are currently in. I tried to pick major headlining bands that I think we can all agree on have had some issues as they've aged.

A follow up poll will be which bands have aged more gracefully and maintained some dignity.

They may suck these days but I don't see how any have "tarnished" their legacy. They all will be known as some of the greats in Rock History forever.

I don't understand how Kiss is winning this poll, they went out with scabs all the way to the end, but number-wise, they packed those arenas until the very end and scooped up a ton of money over that long ass tour.

Going with Mötley!

As a rothtard it hurts more to see what DLR has become onstage - he is still Dave being Dave offstage though - so I picked him.

But objectively looking Bon Jovi and Aerosmith fell further - just wasn't a big fan to start with so it is not as emotional for me.
AC/DC should also be added to the list - they kinda held up for long, even Stevie replacing Malc was fine as it seemed respectful but the revolving door line-ups and Rudd's antics are just sad.

Crue is the obvious choice, so I voted for GNR as a close second.

I’ll also nominate Metallica to round out the top 3. 80s thrash metal kings reduced to stadium mom rock. Glow sticks and Fiji for everyone! I don’t feel safe

Guns N' Roses, from being this "out of left field" phenomenon, to a "going through the motions", soulless, corporate cash grab.

Was hands down Kiss. But Motley took that crown when they came back a few years ago.

They get my vote too but not for that reason.

Axl replaced Slash with Buckethead!

We got Chinese Democracy and a million live albums and box sets. Slash’s Snakepit, Adlers Appetite, Izzy and Gilby and Duff solo albums, etc

If they just took a break after the Illusions, then got back together, I think we could’ve had more awesome GNR music.

Kiss started as a gimmick and ended as a gimmick.

Bon Jovi and Aerosmith did what they needed to do to extend being relevant.

DLR went from the coolest guy in the world to a fruitcake dork. I saw him play a club in the early 90s, right after he cut his hair. He came off as super gay with none of the charm. My friend, a heavy metal singer who idolized Dave, was stone-faced the entire show.

Guns n' Roses and Motley Crue were built on youth and band chemistry. Both threw away the magic formula almost immediately after hitting their peak (although Motley had a great slow-burn rise to the top). No reunion was ever the same.

Those two probably wasted more opportunities than anyone else on this list.

KISS by a mile. Probably the most die-hard fans since the Beatles and most of us have thought they are a total joke for about 20+ years and it just gets more embarrassing every year.

Until they reunited, I would have picked GNR. They've managed to redeem themselves, at least as a live act.

I'm not picking any of the options. I guess you could argue that could have retired before they hit 40 or 50, but musicians - classical, country, jazz, blues, and now rock - tend to keep going until they absolutely can't do it anymore.
