Michael Monroe cancels tour w/Buckcherry

I have tix to see Buckcherry/Michael Monroe in October, and I just received an email from the venue saying Michael has a knee injury that requires immediate surgery, so they cannot participate in the tour. The email says Nashville Pussy will be taking Michael’s place.
I know almost nothing about Nashville Pussy. Are they worth seeing? I’m a bigger fan of Michael Monroe than Buckcherry tbh so I am not very happy.

Nashville Pussy...now
that's a name that I haven't thought about in a long time. Saw an album of theirs at Manifest in Columbia years ago and was "intrigued"

by the name. Bought whatever album that was and listened to it ONCE, probably not all the way through. Haven't thought about them since.

I saw Michael live over a week ago and he looked fine to me, with his usual stage antics.

I saw him at Åbo train station Aug 19th (Tuesday). He was on crutches. Well he was on
a crutch. He still had more pace hopping on one foot pulling a trolley bag with his free hand than other frontmen have on stage

It made me smile but MM didn't look happy at all.

I feel like Michael Monroe & Hanoi Rocks are one of those acts I should know and listen and like but haven’t. And really have no idea where to start or if I should care.

Oh wow. I wasn't expecting to see that reference today. Spent a lot of money there in college and right after.
Pretty sure I didn't buy any copies of "Let Them Eat Pussy" though.

Try Two Steps from the Move. Or Not Fakin' It for Monroe solo.

Yeah, the hype was def better than the substance. Hyper-speed Motorhead riffs and a +6 foot female bassist with bolt-ons and a barely-there bra. The Hookers did the riffs better and I've never liked plastic tits.
Edit - Corey (bass player) apparently hasn't been in the band for years but was when I heard / saw them. I also just read that their original drummer went off to found The Hookers.
Anyway, best wishes to MM and his recovery, and maybe he'll.do a headline tour again at some point, rather than the co-headliners of recent years.

""""""""""""""I feel like Michael Monroe & Hanoi Rocks are one of those acts I should know and listen and like but haven’t. And really have no idea where to start or if I should care."""""""""""""""
Hanoi Rocks "Two Steps From The Move" is a very solid record... but their previous 3-4 records, are mostly weak at best.
There are maybe 2-3 okay songs on all of their early records combined. The recordings are also sub-par... and timing was NOT their friend.
Monroe's solo release "Not Faking It" is also very solid... but it sold and sits, right where it belongs along with most of his, their career.
Like it or not... GNR, and a handful of other 80's bands, even though they borrowed from, or were influenced by HR... in the end, the other bands produced a better product!
Monroe is undoubtedly a legend for their era, especially in Scandinavia.
Andy McCoy is a junkie and people claiming he was a great song-writer are misinformed or delusional. Most of his work are throw-away demo songs that failed to hit home... and regardless of his claiming punk roots, etc... The Clash, The Ramones, 999, and 50 other punk bands all did it better.
This band is also one of those who was caught in the middle... and all the while they were trying to distance themselves from select bands, scenes, and along the way I think it turned off some fans who may have embraced them more had they not tried to act like they weren't who they really were.
In the end, HR were a sleazy glam rock band... and relied as much on image as anyone!

I doubt I would have bought a copy of that either. Pretty sure it was "High as Hell". Doesn't matter...still sucked.
Yeah, Manifest was a cool store. I bought a number of albums there when I was first getting into hair metal, still being sold in the 2000s. Pretty sure that's where I bought LA Guns s/t and Warrant's Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinkin' Rich.
I had forgotten they closed back in 2019. Lasted longer than I was thinking:

Ok, ok. I bought the album because of the name AND the fact that the bassist looked hot on the cover of the album, but come on, I was in my early 20s at the time!

If you're ever in the area, Monster Music in Charleston is the renamed Manifest Charleston location. Great store.

Too bad MM canceled!! I caught Nashville Pussy when they toured with Betty Blowtorch, and I don't remember their set being anything special. I was really there for Betty Blowtorch.

He wants to get the surgery done ASAP so he'll be ready to perform at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding!
Kelce is probably going to hyphenate his name and take hers. Travis Kelce-Swift. More money talks.

I just went down a rabbit hole with this. Apparently, at their height, they had 7 locations
Charlotte
Wilmington
Greenville (SC)
Clemson
Columbia
Charleston
Florence
Charleston is the only one left, but under the new name of Monster, since the Manifest name was owned by the people that own FYE.

Start with Michael Monroe's solo album, Not Fakin' It. It's perfection, start to finish. There's at least 3 songs that you would know. Dead, Jail or Rock and Roll, Not Fakin' It, and Man With No Eyes.
I wasn't the biggest fan of Hanoi Rocks, prior to this album. But I learned.

Speaking as a huge Hanoi (80s version) fan ... you're probably right about D23 being the best overall, though I wouldn't put it so far ahead of Not Fakin' It or All Those Wasted Years.. I love Sensory Overdrive (correct title) too but, as has been said here in the past, it's substantially a Ginger Wildheart album, just written in Michael's style.

I have/had tickets too. Currently trying to get my money back because no way I would be going to see Buck & Pussy! I have been listening to almost nothing but Michael and Hanoi for about 2 months now. To say I am majorly disappointed is a huge understatement. Hopefully he comes back and headlines because I was already disappointed he was opening.
And yes, the Demolition 23 album is perfection!
