Bon Jovi are revisiting the songs from their 2024 LP Forever with an impressive slate of guest singers, including Bruce Springsteen, Jelly Roll, Jason Isbell, Joe Elliott, Avril Lavigne, and Marcus King. They’re calling the new album Forever (Legendary Edition), and it arrives Oct. 24.

This Friday, they’re dropping “Hollow Man” with Bruce Springsteen, along with new tune “Red, White & Jersey.”

“This album is more than just a collection of collaborations, it is an album borne out of necessity,” Bon Jovi said in a statement. “My vocal cord surgery and subsequent rehab was a well-documented journey that played out while releasing Forever in June 2024. I was singing well enough in the studio for the recording, but the vocal demands and rigors of touring were still out of reach for me. Without the ability to tour or promote an album we were all very proud of, I decided to call on some friends to help me in my time of need. All are great singers, artists, and also just great people.”

“The result is an album with a new viewpoint and new spirit – a collaboration album that proves we all get by in this world with a little help from our friends,” he continues. “I feel tremendous joy and gratitude releasing this album and I think it shows in the music. I can say with certainty that there is always something bigger than ME, and that’s WE,” said Jon Bon Jovi.”

I can say with certainty that there is always something bigger than ME, and that’s WE.”

Bon Jovi have been off the road since 2022 due to Jon’s vocal issues, but they have played a handful of one-offs in recent years. Their most recent gig took place June 14 at Marathon Music Works in Nashville, Tennessee. It’s unclear if they’ll ever be able to tour again.

“I just want to get back to two and a half hours a night, four nights a week, before I’m gonna go out there on the road for real,” Jon said at the 2024 Pollstar Live! conference. “But I’m confident in my doctor.”

Earlier this month, unfounded rumors spread that Bon Jovi drummer Tico Torres was stepping away from the band. Tico posted a video to the official Bon Jovi Instagram account to set the record straight.

“I’m here to dispel a lot of rumors that I’ve read,” he said. “People [have been] calling me up saying, ‘Did you retire from music, from the band?’ Well… no, i have no idea how this stuff starts. Musicians don’t retire, especially me. Me and the boys, Johnny and everybody, we’re still making music.. I mean, the best we’ve ever been. All I can tell you is, don’t listen to what you read, it’s most likely bullshit. See you later!”

So basically one of those bullshit 'tribute' albums that sell 10 copies. At least those other bullshit tribute albums are 'greatest hits'.

Who is this for? Looks like something some producer in Nashville got bored and dicked around with.

Why? And what cost?

This can’t possibly make any money. But it will certainly cost money to produce.

I don’t get it. Total garbage.

Jelly Roll (Country) is the only featured artist with current mainstream success. He's singing "Living Proof".

This doesn't make a lot of sense. Jon already says that he was able to sing well enough to sing these songs, he just couldn't tour on it. So now he's having other people sing the songs he could already sing? Those artists aren't gonna tour on this either.

I’m a big fan and I think I’m only going to listen to this once out of curiosity.

Will it be the exact same record, just adding a 2nd lead vocal duet? Any re arrangements?

As for the record itself…
Living Proof and Waves are good.
Walls of Jericho is catchy but cheesy. Reminds me of Because We Can which I don’t like.
Kiss the Bride is a guilty pleasure. It’s lame as hell but actually very sweet.

Maybe this is a test run to see if they can release a tribute album with various artists covering the classic hits.

Nonsense. You can hate current Bon Jovi all you want -I dont like it one bit, but at the same time I get that poor Jon just cant cut it no more and is doing what he can- but

you cant get more high scale than your national treasure Springsteen.
Lainey Wilson may be the number one female artist right now in country pop or whatever.
Robbie Williams is a superstar all around the world, much bigger than Bon Jovi actually.
Jason Isbell has twenty grammys, he is well respected in the industry -may be the most classy artist here- and fills each venue he plays.
Joe Elliot is the only one of the hair era -apart from Jon- that is n1 and is in a highly succesful band thats respected.
Avril Lavigne is an 2000s icon thats still kind of relevant. I mean, if you belive Billy Idol and Green Day are still releven, so is she.
James Bay is kind of cool.

No rock band -except Foo Fighters, which is as corporate as Bon Jovi, and maybe- can gather these kind of artists.

Having said that, Im pretty sure the songs would suck for the most part.

No need for a guitar solo, Phil X can’t play solos.

Cookie cutter CRAP … this isn’t Bon Jovi it’s all Shanks … same tweaked riff and beat that’s in most songs for the past 12 years.

But that new song is terrible.

The only interesting stuff he puts out these days are songs like Hollow Man. At least he tries to be somewhat creative on the slow acoustic album cuts.

God help me, I actually like Red White and Jersey! In fact, it’s a better lead off track than Legendary.

But yeah…that “solo” section and outro are typical terrible Shanks. Sounds like Yanni or something.

In fact a lot of the Bon Jovi without Richie stuff sounds like self-help Yanni music to me. I like the song itself though.

Even Bruce couldn’t save Hollow Man. Incidentally Bruce co-sang 3 songs on a recent Mellencamp record that were totally forgettable too.

I don’t even remember the album … one rocker, Legendary, Waves, Seeds … something like that.

The man has a gift for catchy songs even though I think this is 90% Shanks 10% Jon … the beginning is a reboot of Who Says You Can’t Go Home … the rest of the song is a reboot of a couple of songs from This House Is Not For Sale.

The video is good, kinda a 2025 version of You Give Love A Bad Name … camera angles, lighting, etc. … it’s a stage performance so is he trying to tell us something?
