Should Manowar consider getting a move on?
It must have been 2 years since they first announced they're releasing a re-record of sign of the hammer followed by an album of all new material. They even had little interview Snippets and Studio reports about them - over a year ago. I know they've done a few one-off European and South American shows here and there and they seem to be very happy with Michelangelo on guitar but what's the holdup?

You still didn’t answer my question: If they catch the Charlie Kirk hitman, should someone bail him out, you know, in spirit of Kirk and with the Pelosi case in mind? lsn’t that what Kirk would have wanted kinda?Don't Damn Me wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 12:59 am It must have been 2 years since they first announced they're releasing a re-record of sign of the hammer followed by an album of all new material. Overall, they are not a very productive band since Ross the Boss left/was fired. They cranked out six classic albums with him in as many years - 1982-88 - and then I think six more (and 2-3 re-recorded) in the over 35 years since then and if you ask me only Warriors of the World is as good as anything they did with Ross. Not saying it was all Ross, but something changed in the band dynamic.Don't Damn Me wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 12:59 am It must have been 2 years since they first announced they're releasing a re-record of sign of the hammer followed by an album of all new material. Besides that, now they are in the Singer/Thayer phase of their career. Touring with a drummer and a guitarist who never played on an album.

You're right Warriors of the World was the best since Kings of metal. It took years, but I've learned to really likeLove_Industry wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 1:17 amOverall, they are not a very productive band since Ross the Boss left/was fired. Gods of War. It's actually pretty damn good. I forced myself to like the Lord of Steel but I never put that on now. That EP they put out was excellent.
But yeah their live performances have really shown a revolving door of musicians.
I didn't care for the re-records, Kings of metal especially did not need to be touched. But I would like to hear mountains with excellent production.

Agree. Overall the Sign of the Hammer album needs to be re-recorded and it hasn't even been remastered AFAIK. The songs and vocals are great but I hate the guitar and especially the bass sound. They should make it sound like Warriors of the World or Kings of Metal. Battle Hymns was a missed opportunity, they stayed too close to the original recording. Maybe it was more about EMI not letting them buy the rights than feeling it needed to be improved and modernized.Don't Damn Me wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 1:29 am

I think they tried to replicate battle hymns notes for note but Eric's voice has changed. They tuned it down on some songs and I think fast-taker suffers the most. Plus the performance sounds stiff.Love_Industry wrote: ↑Fri Sep 12, 2025 2:02 amAgree. Overall the Sign of the Hammer album needs to be re-recorded and it hasn't even been remastered AFAIK. Yeah there's a certain tin can quality to the production of sign of the hammer. It's weird the first two albums sound so much better than the second two production wise
Did you hear the remixes of Into Glory ride and hail to England? They removed the piccolo base completely. They're pretty great
