Overall, they are not a very productive band since Ross the Boss left/was fired. They cranked out six classic albums with him in as many years - 1982-88 - and then I think six more (and 2-3 re-recorded) in the over 35 years since then and if you ask me only Warriors of the World is as good as anything they did with Ross. You're right Warriors of the World was the best since Kings of metal. Besides that, now they are in the Singer/Thayer phase of their career. Touring with a drummer and a guitarist who never played on an album.
Agree. Overall the Sign of the Hammer album needs to be re-recorded and it hasn't even been remastered AFAIK. The songs and vocals are great but I hate the guitar and especially the bass sound. They should make it sound like Warriors of the World or Kings of Metal. Battle Hymns was a missed opportunity, they stayed too close to the original recording. I didn't care for the re-records, Kings of metal especially did not need to be touched. But I would like to hear mountains with excellent production.
I think they tried to replicate battle hymns notes for note but Eric's voice has changed. They tuned it down on some songs and I think fast-taker suffers the most.
