Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Got that card wrong. That's now two cards that I lost money on in a row.
Crocop is finished. He looked tentative the whole fight. If he fought Couture, he would lose. I can't believe he's look so big yet he's only 7lbs heavier than Couture.
Dos Santos has a lot of power, would be interesting to see him fight Herring or Mir.
Belfort vs Silva will be awesome whenever that happens next year.
Kos is kind of in limbo, since he's one of the best in the division, but clearly a level below GSP.
Good to see Daley win as he's a brit.
I haven't seen any of the other fights yet, so can't comment.
Hmm, will have to track down the boxing bout now, before I turn on the news.

A friend of a friend is training with Hermes Franca, so I was rooting for him. Other than that, all the fights I was interested in went in my favor (prediction-wise).

Man, this is a shitty week for the UFC, Crocop and Rampage are both done fighting.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think cro cops flame was put out after winning the grand prix, he was unstoppable that night, but he did what he wanted to do "won the big won". So yeah that doesnt surprise me to much.
The jackson thing is a big surprise, I think he will be back though. Leave it to Dana though to be a dick face and push a fighter away.
On the plus side he is in and around town shooting his movie, in fact he was at a local sport bar last night , so im going to track him down for sure in between school and football at some point

I wanted Cro Cop to win, just for the nostalgia, gt his eye fucked and was rocked bad.
I was rooting for Belfort so it went good.
Machida -Rua is going to be insteresting, but not exciting in my opinion
Dont care much for the Couture and Lesnar fights, Ortiz vs Roidboy Coleman could be entertaining for the trash talking factor.
Anyone knows what's up with Ricardo Arona? I didn't like him much for what he did to Sakuraba but he is a damn strong fighter.

BTW the MMA themed movie "Redbelt" has been airing on cable a bunch. It's pretty heavy on drama rather than action but still a good flick.

The whole policeman offing himself rather than be disgraced was a bit far fetched.Garbageman wrote:BTW the MMA themed movie "Redbelt" has been airing on cable a bunch. It's pretty heavy on drama rather than action but still a good flick.
I also found it interesting how they used the BJJ and Krav Magar in the final fight sequences...

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Who's everyone taking tonight? I got:
Shogun - I like Lyoto, but I don't think he's faced anyone as well rounded as Shogun. If he can't beat Machida, I don't know who will. I just hope it's a good fight, and I'd like to see Shogun fight Rogerio next either way, as their first fight is probably my favorite fight of all time.
Rothwell - I think Cain is way overrated, if Kongo had any kind of ground game he would have smashed Cain. I think Rothwell can win a UD here.
Stevenson - This could either be really exciting or really boring. Fisher's fights are always exciting, but Joe has a tendency to LnP. He looked good against Diaz, so I'll give him this one.
Johnson - AJ weighed in 6 lbs over (supposedly because of a knee injury) but he was walking around at 220 a couple months ago...If he doesn't gas from the weight cut he should win...He should probably consider a move to MW if he is going to walk around that heavy.
Tibau - This one is a coin flip. Both these guys weighed in heavy too, a lot of weird weights on this card. 3 guys over and Lyoto and Shogun both weighed in under 205. Should be a great card.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
SHOGUN GOT RAPED BY THE JUDGES. I am so fucking pissed off right now. That decision is worse than Bisping/Hammil and Nog/Ricco. I hate to accuse the UFC of fixing fights, but there is no way all 3 judges could have scored that for Lyoto.

Yeah. Not only did they give the fight to Machida when Shogun obviously won, but it was a UNANIMOUS decision. Wow. It would have been a stretch to have even a split decision, but that was ridiculous.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
If Forrest Griffin beat Rampage, than Shogun DEFINITELY beat Machida.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I was pretty surprised when Machida won, but apparently not as surprised as Machida.
Saw this as a comment on something I was reading about the fight. Have no idea if it's accurate or not.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
No shit. I - like everyone else thought Shogun was gonna get killed and I haven’t really been a fan of him for a while, but he slowly was winning me over in the fight and by the end I was so happy that he won. I mean who the hell saw it coming, he barely even beat Coleman! But man I was at a big sports bar watching it and no one could believe Machida was given that fight. just unreal.BozoMcMetal wrote:If Forrest Griffin beat Rampage, than Shogun DEFINITELY beat Machida.
And for the record I never thought Forrest beat Rampage and couldn't believe they gave him that decision. I think the judges must have had a hard on for Forrest like all the casual fans do. Personally I never liked him and never thought he was that great especially after the way Rashad beat him.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Brock is out of 106 with the flu. Another major disappointment for MMA this week.
Current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been forced to withdraw from his Nov. 21 showdown with Shane Carwin. The news was comes courtesy of Yahoo! Sports who has confirmed the information with UFC President Dana White.
White stated that Lesnar has fallen ill and has been unable to train for the past three-and-a-half weeks while fighting the undisclosed illness which White insists is not the swine flu (H1N1).
The lack of a full training camp has forced the hand of the champion who had to call off the match-up today.
"He said he's never been this sick in his life," White told Yahoo! Sports. "He said it's been going on for a long time and he just hasn't been able to shake it."
The battle, set to pit two of the most powerful men in UFC history, was widely considered among the most anticipated of the year. Both men are noted collegiate wrestling champions with huge striking power and each cut weight to make the 265-pound limit. White was noncommittal when asked if the match-up would be postponed or if Carwin would face a replacement and still compete on the card
"We're still working everything out," he told Yahoo! Sports.

Rogers just got floored! What a punch by Fedor. I thought Rogers was fighting a smart fight up until that point. But, just like Arlovski, one lapse is all it takes for Fedor to strike and end it.

That first round had me thinking "maybe, just maybe..." but nope. Dude is fucking unreal.
On a somewhat related note, I looked up the supposed roster for the EA Sports MMA game and it had Kurt Angle listed as one of the fighters. WTF???
