The Finnish team is old and tired and it sure didn't help them to have their goalies to have their worst starts in their professional careers. The young Yanks are really on fire and deserve to win it all. Although the Canadians are also a very good team.

Can't see USA beating Canada for the 2nd time in row, then again I didn't think they was gonna win the first meeting either.
Kid-Wicked wrote:i missed the u.s. game. did they really beat finland that bad or was it shitty goaltending?

6 goals on 11 shots?
Shitty tending, poor defensive moves at the wrong time and great plays to capitalize. The first goalie pulled himself after 4 and the US scored 2 more on his replacement in no time.

It was about time they shaped up at the last game.

If Phil Kessel scores the winning goal I'm going to:
1. laugh my ass off
2. make copies of tomorrow's sports section and flier the executives' entrance to the Garden

Canada has a WAY better team, but the US has Miller. I hope this game doesn't suck. It has all the ingredients for a great gold medal game.

I can't see the game sucking; two powerhouse teams like the US & Team Canada?

I don't imagine it'll be a high scoring game either, but I said that about the 2nd women's game and I was off, so take that at face value.

3:15--hurry up already!!!

What a great, epic hockey game. Amazing. I've been a wreck of nerves for the last hour, and I haven't even been much of a hockey fan since I was a kid! LOL. Just an awesome game.

What a good game.

Really the only way US was going to beat Canada, was if their team was filled with Canadians.

No shit, eh?!? LOL. I haven't even been able to sit down for the last hour, nevermind the big nervous ball of knots my stomach was in. Christ, when the U.S. tied it up RIGHT at the end of the 3rd period I thought I was gonna have a bloody heart attack myself.

I was almost ready to just turn the TV off and wait it out to find out who won later, I just couldn't take it!

Sid the Kid!

Did anyone catch the CTV interview just after they won?
The interviewer - name escapes me now - asked Sidney about the shot, and all Sid could say - with a big grin was, "I don't know, I don't remember, maybe in the five hole?"

Awesome!

Another Buffalo sports disappointment. Just like the Bills, Ryan Miller is again second best. I watched the game outdoors on two big jumbotrons with lots of other Buffalo folks at a Winter Festival. We had a strong presence with Ryan Miller and Patrick Kane.

That was one of the best games I've ever seen. Congrats to Team Canada, and all you Canucks. :)
I'm damn proud of my guys, and Ryan Miller TOTALLY deserved the MVP. It was just heartbreaking to see their disappointment. Thanks for a great tournament, boys! Fucking wow.

I threw a chair, and almost my five year old, out the window when the US scored the tying goal. The whole neighborhood are hockey fans, so there was lots of furniture and people littering the lawns, so nobody thinks I'm too nuts.

What a game. A fuckin' epic. Both goalies awesome. Both teams had to work for every inch. No NHL game could ever match this. If only we could go back in time to the days of 16-20 teams where every line was great, like we saw today.

Crosby made the shot, but Iginla's pass to him was sensational. The entire play was a textbook example of incredible hockey instincts. Get the puck to the open ice and a great player will get there.

Praise god; pass the Molsons!

Canada won the gold in overtime, over an unranked USA team, good job

thats like if the 1992 Mens Basketball Dream Team would have the gold in overtime

you "won" but its a failure overall

people in Canada think a win over USA in hockey means anything to the USA, is funny

Buddy you have been leaking your cunt all over this thread, shut the fuck up . The USA was undefeated with the best goaltender in hockey in the net. LOL at comparing the dream team to team Canada. On pretty much every NHL team it has under 60% Canadians, you might get one or two non Americans on an NBA squad.

LAglamrocker wrote:people in Canada think a win over USA in hockey means anything to the USA, is funny
Seems like its getting under your forskin. And we dont really, we think Canada winning a gold medal in Canada means everything.

Amen!

What a god damn game. I headed downtown right after the game to join the mayhem on Robson. Vancouver has never ever been like this, and the only thing that would top it is if the Canucks won the cup. I couldn't stop yelling "SID THE KID" on Robson. What a time to be alive. I already have Olympics withdrawal. Back to fucking work tomorrow. GO CANADA AND CANUCKS GO

Funny, I don't remember the original basketball dream team going up against teams comprised of all, or mostly, other NBA players.

Also, The Hockey News picked the US to finish 4th. It's not like they were expected to finish behind Latvia or anything.

Now crawl back under your rock while my country basks in its Olympic success - and not just in hockey.

Well done Vancouver. You guys should be proud. I don't know how you, or the city, can just get back to normal today. I'm all the way in Montreal and am going to miss watching it every morning and night!
