Rumors popping up everywhere.

It A&M decides to go the SEC route, then the PAC-10 will look at adding Kansas or Utah. The PAC-10 definitely does not want K-State. If Kansas and K-State are joined at the hip, then they would look to Utah.

The Big 10 may be finished for now... possibly looking to expand in phases over several months as opposed to adding numerous teams at once.

The only ACC teams that would be considered for SEC expansion are Virgina Tech and maybe the North Carolina schools. Florida has pretty much nixed any and all ideas of adding FSU or Miami (and FSU wouldn't jump anyway). Clemson might be considered as a last resort.

All is quiet in ACC land. I have heard absolutely nothing from any of their schools with the exception of FSU saying that they are perfectly satisfied in the ACC. (They had the chance to join the SEC in '92 and rejected the deal when it became clear they could join, and dominate, the ACC... remember, they didn't lose a conference game in 7 years.)

I got into Iowa. Nothing superior about the Ten academically. We're talking about a conference that keeps Northwestern in the league to up the GPA.

Very true. Especially the thing about Northwestern. Thing is, just about every school in the Big Ten is a public school, so just about 99% of the population can get in. A great deal of students that are initially "rejected" go the back route. They go to a branch campus for a quarter/semester, get good grades, and then the main campus HAS TO accept you.....

Me too Skater. I can't believe they are letting this happen to the Big 12. I hope Kansas and Mizzou get picked up by a decent conference. Fuck K-State. I hope they end up in C-USA.

If your goddamn faggot school wouldn't have started this shit bitch!

I think all three of us in the Big 12 N. will probably end up in the same place. I know if we were in different conferences we'd still play each other BUT I'd hate to see rivalries die.

Living in NC (but with no ACC allegiances) it would be hysterical to watch it all fall apart. They screwed up basketball to make football work, and it has been a complete disaster. ACC football is terrible and ACC hoops have been diluted. Should be fun to watch it all play out.

Looking like Texas A&M is SEC bound. All of the ACC schools are presently committed to the ACC, and the SEC has nixed all talks of adding schools in states in which the SEC currently has a presence (no FSU, Miami, Clemson, Ga. Tech). Texas, Texas Tech, OU, and OSU are PAC-10 bound unless an 11th hour deal is struck. No talks between the PAC-10 and Kansas. Looks like the Big 12 is toast unless the Big East gets raided, and the remaining members of the Big East agree to join the Big 12 leftovers. I'm still curious as to what the 14th SEC school will be. West Virginia is technically a "northern" state, but who knows.

The logical choice would be to snare VT, but that won't happen unless they take Virginia as well, which basically leaves us at the "who will the 14th team be" stage.

Maybe they'll scoop up Mizzou, since they'll more or less be twisting in the wind.

Speaking of 11th hour deals:
In a bombshell development that could bring a halt to seismic changes in college realignment, sources tell Orangebloods.com Texas is at the table with the 10 remaining Big 12 schools working on a TV deal put forth by commissioner Dan Beebe that would hold the conference together.

Although this deal is more about money, it IS also better for student athletes. Despite what Juggernaut may say, it makes no sense, nor is it fair to the student athletes to have them traveling cross country all the time when they have classes to take. It's "Student-Athlete." Not "Athlete-Student." That's what is lost in all of this.

Ty-Do you actually believe the coaches and athletic director's care about the student-athlete?

Most, if not all coaches and ad's receive a bonus for playing in a bowl game.

currently the big-10 receives the most money from tv revenue.
the pac-10 is not even close.
how can the pac-10 get a larger piece of that pie?
ask teams from the big-12 to join them.

what a shocker!

greedy bastards is what they are.

the greedy fuckers say all the right things to the media, but behind closed doors they all laugh all the way to the bank.

Completely agree and am aware of this Machado. I just want the conferences to stay as geographically close as they can be, because it is best for the student athletes who have to endure the travel. It is also best for the fans (many of whom are students) who travel to games to support their school. I'm pretty much "done" with the BCS bullshit anyway. As I've stated before. You can catch me in section 115 of Peden Stadium watching the Bobcats.

Saw a report late last night that says Texas has led the way for the remaining BIG 12 teams
to stay within the conference.

None of the remaining 10 teams are joining the PAC-10

Reports are Texas will receive their very own TV network out of this deal.
Earning between $20-$25 million per year in TV revenue.

It's not that I care either way, it's just what people out here in the Mormon Mothership are talking about. I'm a Spartan. (yes, I went to MSU for a couple of years, as well as lived in East Lansing for a couple more, so at least I'm not one of the aforementioned Buckeyes and Volunteers.)

I don't think it makes much sense for them to go (except financially, of course) since Boise State just joined the Mountain West, making the MWC more legitimate in the realm of football.

All this shuffling around makes a playoff that much more realistic. I'm betting we'll have one within 10 years.
