At Citeh, Tevez has handed in a transfer request. I doubt they'll let him go. Trouble already, I wonder would it be the same if he had stayed at ManU. It's about money again.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
City have already rejected the request and have stated that his agent has repeatedly tried to renegotiate his contract over the last few months despite it having 3 1/2 years yet to run. They also said he's the highest paid player on their books. So he must be on over 200 grand a week.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
He gets about £150,000 a week and they offered 100,000 more. Miserable bastard.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... rs&cc=5739
Manchester City have released an official statement confirming reports that Carlos Tevez has handed in a transfer request, and the club revealed they have rejected the striker's demand.
Tevez has regularly threatened to quit English football, claiming he has lost his love of the game. The former Manchester United man's mood has not been helped by the fact he lives away from his two daughters, who are in Argentina.
Relations with manager Roberto Mancini have grown increasingly strained during the course of the season, and it recently spilled into the public arena as Tevez launched a verbal volley at his boss when substituted during the 1-0 win over Bolton.
A statement on City's official website read: "It is with disappointment that we confirm to our supporters that Carlos Tevez has submitted a written transfer request. The club can also confirm that the request has been rejected.
"The club remains disappointed by this situation and particularly with the actions of Carlos' representative. Roberto Mancini and all at the club have shown, and will continue to show, sensitivity to Carlos' personal circumstances including the issue of his family being based overseas. Indeed following his suspension as a result of the game against Bolton, Carlos requested, and was given, special dispensation by the manager to take leave overseas."
City clearly have not given hope of persuading their skipper into a Wayne Rooney-like U-turn, revealing that the 26-year-old is keen to sign a new contract. The Eastlands outfit appeared to hint that Tevez's transfer request is inspired by his advisors.
"The written transfer request is in stark contrast to Carlos' stated position in both public and club contexts," the statement continued. "Significantly, over recent months, the club has also received numerous requests from Carlos' representative to renegotiate and improve his playing contract as well as more recently a request to extend that contract by another year.
"However, in line with the club's policy of not negotiating playing contracts mid-season this has not been granted. Carlos' current five-year contract has three-and-a-half years to run and he is the highest paid player at the Manchester City Football Club.
"This is both an unfortunate and unwelcome distraction and the club will remain focused on the games ahead in what is turning out to be a very promising season. The door remains open for Carlos to be selected to play."
With Tevez known to desperately miss his two daughters who are back home in Argentina, returning to South America is one option, as is retirement.
City have tempted Tevez with the offer of a £100,000-per-week pay rise - which would take him up to £250,000-per-week - but the striker is reportedly so fed up at Eastland's he never even considered the deal, and is in fact considering taking a pay-cut to ensure a transfer.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Interesting. I read on the BBC website that Rodney Marsh reckons Tevez is getting 286,000 a week tax free. I thought that seemed a bit high, but Toure supposedly gets 180 grand a week and City say Tevez is the highest paid so who knows. Tevez has issued another statement saying he's fell out with City executives and he's definitely leaving City.

If he gets to leave I'd guess he'll go to Spain. No team in Argentina can afford him and looks like he doesn't want to stay in Britain. I can't see him retiring at, what 24 or 25? I think he would have to buy out his contract too.

Arsenal could have stayed home and put just as much pressure on the ManU goal. Very poor showing. 1-0 ManU over Arse.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Wenger tried to blame the pitch for a poor match. I expect Fergie to line United up similar on Sunday as he did against Arsenal. You can't allow yourself to get overrun in midfield in any match, but more so against the big boys.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Is it Chelsea next? Defense was solid and Park's header nice. I hope they get back to two strikers, Rooney hasn't scored in open play since March.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Yep, Chelsea next. I would be very surprised if Fergie doesn't play 5 in midfield at Stamford Bridge. This season when United have been poor, they've been overrun in midfield at the expense of an extra forward. 5 in midfield, although typically I hate it, is what United need in the big games. If Chelsea play just 1 up top on Sunday, United must do the same, and they should do it even if Chelsea play both Drogba and Anelka.
I think Fergie would take a draw at the Bridge even though Chelsea are there for the taking. He probably thought 4 points from the Arsenal/Chelsea matches would be a good return.

Ferguson usually plays 5 in midfield against teams he takes seriously. I wonder if it's Berbatov's turn next up front.
Interesting manager shuffle in January, Hughton and Allardyce already fired, I suspect Grant will be too.

Champions League draw - First Round
AS Roma v Shakhtar Donetsk
AC Milan v Tottenham Hotspur
Valencia v FC Schalke
Inter Milan v Bayern Munich
Lyon v Real Madrid
Arsenal v Barcelona
Marseille v Manchester United
Copenhagen v Chelsea
Barca for Arse. It would be nice if Chelsea would be surprised. Marseille's not too bad.

Two most recent games for ManU now cancelled. I wonder when they'll play those.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
I think the Blackpool game is already set for January.
Both United and Chelsea should want to get this game rearranged for January too if possible, neither will want a possible logjam from Feb onwards.

Tevez back to scoring after all the shite, still nothing from Rooney. Good that Berbatov delivers. Giggs was good tonight, shouldn't have been substituted, looked surprised himself. Cleverley and Wellbeck should return, both have been good.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Giggs might be being saved for Birmingham tomorrow. Park is now away for international duty for a month so Fergie will need to look after his midfielders.

Another fucking away draw at a bad moment. Just goes to show how tight season this is.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Away form is gonna end up fucking this team. Shocking, and they controlled the 2nd half too, but kept backing up at the end of the half. You could see they were nervous in the last 5 mins. Very poor.

Finally Rooney scores. West Brom's goal was nice. Neville is embarrassing, really lucky that West Brom didn't get a penalty at first half.
Then they get one and it's shite, ManU should have got one too. Chicarito was unwatched unfortunately for the header.

Another poor away performance, but 3 points this time. Gary Neville needs to retire. Need Nani back badly.

Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
Even Ferguson agreed that Neville's tackle was a penalty. I would be very surprised if he gets another deal, he's been awful all season. Scholes started the season off well but has been quiet. I've been impressed with Giggs, he might have one more season in him.
Re: **OFFICIAL Association Football 2010/2011 Season thread*
To be fair to Scholes, he's had a groin injury I believe.
Read a rumour tonight that Kaka is on his way to Old Trafford on loan in January. With a possible 50 mil permanent deal at the end of it. I highly doubt it as the Glazers now have a policy of not spending big money on players in their late 20's.

Ferguson said noone's coming in January. Diarra from Madrid was rumored too, Kaka I hadn't heard of. At least he's gettin De Laet etc. back from Preston, now that his son got sacked.
