You don't have to be an MLB GM to understand that at Jeter's age, being a starting SS is next to impossible.
4 yrs is a long time.
I find it easy to envision in the 4th year of his deal or sooner, his lack of defensive play at SS will force the Yankees to move Jeter somewhere else.
OF is the logical choice, unless Jeter becomes the full time DH.

FFFFUUUUUUUU
The Mariners were supposed to play here in late June. U2 is gonna be here the following week. So U fucking 2 needs the stadium to set up their show the weekend that the M's are supposed to be here, so now the Marlins have to play their "home" games in Seattle! Shit! I wanted to see King Felix and Ichiro, goddammit!

MLB does not care about this team or their city.
By moving the games away from Miami and to Seattle, proves this.
Do you think U2 would have this much influence at Wrigley or Boston
or either of the NY teams???

It's better than what MLB did to the Expos. Made them play "select home games" in Puerto Rico, and then have Mr. Schedule Maker send them on a road trip to Pittsburgh, Philly, Seattle, San Francisco, and Oakland. The team was on the road for a month! They were in the running for a wild card spot before that trip from hell killed them. Imagine if "the little train that could" had made the playoffs and embarassed their owners, MLB.Machado wrote:1 step closer to this team moving from S. Florida.TawnyVonJagger wrote:FFFFUUUUUUUU

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
The New York Yankees have reached an agreement on a minor league contract with pitcher Freddy Garcia, a baseball source told ESPN.com.
Garcia will receive a $1.5 million base salary if he makes the big league club. He can earn $3.6 million in possible incentives, topping out at 30 starts, according to a source.
It also lets Garcia opt out by March 29, according to a report.
Garcia, 35, has a career 133-87 record with a 4.13 ERA in 12 big league seasons. He went 12-6 in 28 starts with the Chicago White Sox last season.

NY media is reporting that
Andy Pettitte will announce his retirement tomorrow.
S.O.B.
If the guy does not have the heart or passion to pitch, then the decision is an easy one to make.
Yankees could not sign Lee.
Now they are about to lose another lefty starter.

It is, but unfortunately it also means that the evil spawns of George will go on a monstrous trading deadline spending spree and go after every soon-to-be free agent pitcher.MurrayFiend wrote:Well, that's worth celebrating if anything is.Machado wrote:Yankees could not sign Lee.

If that's what it takes, then you know the Yankees will give a great effort in order to upgrade the ballclub.

Flat Bat Award 2010
January 31, 2011
Each year we give the Flat Bat Award to baseball's best bunter, and it's time to hand out the 2010 award. First, let's look at the best bunters in sacrifice situations. Here are the best sacrifice bunters in baseball for 2010, listed in order of most sacrifices:
2010 Sacrifice Hit Leaders
Player Successful Sacrifices Sacrifice Attempts Percentage
Clayton Kershaw, LAD 18 18 100%
Elvis Andrus, TEX 17 17 100%
Chone Figgins, SEA 17 19 89%
Ryan Dempster, CHC 16 17 94%
Nyjer Morgan, WAS 15 15 100%
Juan Pierre, CWS 15 21 71%
Now we have the best at bunting for hits, listed in order of most bunt hits in 2010. As you can see, the most successful bunters have a very high average when bunting for a hit. Of the 23 players who attempted at least 10 bunt base hits in 2010, their combined average on bunts was .490.
2010 Bunt Hit Leaders
Player, Team Successful Bunt Hits Bunt Hit Attempts Average
Erick Aybar, LAA 18 35 .514
Julio Borbon, TEX 17 30 .567
Elvis Andrus, TEX 12 18 .667
Angel Pagan, NYM 12 18 .667
Gregor Blanco, KC/ATL 12 17 .706
Last year's Flat Bat award winner Erick Aybar again led the league with 18 bunt hits (in 35 attempts). Rangers rookie Julio Borbon gave Aybar a run for his money with 17 bunts hits. However, Aybar was also 11 for 13 in sac bunt attempts, giving him an edge over Borbon (8 for 11).
Congratulations to Erick Aybar for successfully defending his Flat Bat title!

I am kinda liking what the Rays are doing this off season. I mean you knew the train was leaving the station half full, that was a given. And Pena, 5 Million? That's just dumb money. He's a good dude and I hope he proves me wrong, but seriously? I would definately take a chance on Manny instead. I still think Johnson should be the first baseman. Was it the Yanks or the Sox he sunk last year on back to back dingers? I do worry about the strength of some of these young guys in the rotation. They are going to have to seriously monitor their innings.
Hey!..............is there anyone out here in the bullpen? HELLO?!?

Ohlendorf was awarded a raise from $439,000 to $2,025,000 Wednesday by arbitrators Steven Wolf, Fredric Horowitz and Robert Herzog, who heard the case a day earlier. The Pirates had argued he should be paid $1.4 million.
The 28-year-old right-hander had a 4.07 ERA in 21 starts for Pittsburgh last year, and his record(1 win, 11 losses) on a team that went a major league-worst 57-105 was down from 11-10 the previous year.
Ohlendorf's ERA was lower than the 4.31 of Cincinnati's Edinson Volquez, who will make $1,625,000 this year. Volquez was 4-3 last year after returning from elbow surgery and a 50-game suspension following a positive drug test.
Twelve more players remain in arbitration, with hearings scheduled through Feb. 18.
